FESI-SBIR Program Analyst to support KABS and our government customer in Washington, DC. This position will start mid to late September 2026. This is a fully funded contract. The position is hybrid, will require 3 days onsite. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.
The FESI-SBIR Program Analyst provides essential programmatic, analytical, and operational support to the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Technology Commercialization in the execution of the Federal and Energy Startup Initiative (FESI) within the SBIR/STTR program portfolio. This position advances DOE's mission by strengthening the innovation pipeline among early-stage energy startups, supporting commercialization readiness, and increasing the transition of federally funded technologies into the marketplace. The analyst collaborates with program managers, small business awardees, national laboratories, technical assistance providers, and DOE leadership to ensure the effective delivery of FESI SBIR support services and successful execution of program activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the planning, coordination, and daily operations of DOE's FESI SBIR initiative, including startup engagement, milestone tracking, and service delivery support.
- Assist in developing FESI program resources, commercialization guidance materials, outreach communications, and operational workflows.
- Conduct data collection, commercialization tracking, portfolio analysis, and performance evaluation to support program oversight and reporting.
- Prepare written materials including program summaries, metrics dashboards, reports, presentations, and briefing documents for DOE leadership.
- Support outreach efforts such as workshops, webinars, startup engagement events, and coordination with entrepreneurial support organizations.
- Interface with DOE program offices, national laboratories, startups, commercialization advisors, and accelerators to gather information, verify progress, and facilitate technology maturation activities.
- Maintain organized program files, tracking tools, databases, and resource repositories to support efficient program management.
- Support review and evaluation activities by monitoring commercialization readiness, assessing startup needs, and identifying gaps in support.
- Monitor federal and DOE-specific SBIR/STTR policy updates, ensuring FESI program alignment with requirements and best practices.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement aimed at increasing program efficiency, data quality, and stakeholder experience.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business, public policy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience supporting federal R&D programs, commercialization programs, innovation initiatives, or grants/contract administration.
- Strong analytical capabilities, including experience with technical data interpretation, commercialization metrics, or program evaluation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing structured reports or presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams in a hybrid setting.
- Familiarity with federal program operations, R&D processes, startup support mechanisms, or financial assistance programs.
- Proficiency with data management platforms, spreadsheets, CRM systems, or analytics tools.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to meet federal suitability requirements if required.

Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with SBIR/STTR programs, particularly DOE or other science agencies.
