Job DescriptionFEMA-Disaster Response Specialists (Architects)
Responsibilities
Disaster Specialists must be ready to travel to disaster site to support FEMA's response and recovery missions, but also be flexible and disciplined to work remotely from home, if needed. They will assist local government agencies and other Program-eligible entitles in the preparation of grant applications for the restoration of a variety of damaged public infrastructure to include roads, bridges, buildings and utilities. The work includes but is not limited to: site assessments of disaster-damaged infrastructure; documenting damages and developing restoration scopes of work, formulating detailed and accurate cost estimates, and assisting with hazard mitigation planning.
Required Skills & Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university
- Professional License and/or Registration is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time professional experience in field of architecture, project management or construction management
- Prior FEMA Public Assistance experience preferred: Program Delivery Manager, Site Inspector, Policy Advisor, Cost Estimator, FEMA Certified Trainer, Hazard Mitigation Specialist (Sections 404/406); or
- Knowledge of the FEMA Public Assistance Program
- Candidates trained in new FEMA PA delivery model are preferred
- Experience in design construction of commercial and government buildings, preparing construction documentation, bid and contract documents, and change orders
- Experience with modern construction practices, facility assessments, construction inspection, project scope development and cost estimating
- Working knowledge of International Building Code (IBC), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), historic preservation, and other governmental regulatory compliance
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office Suite applications (Word and Excel) and FEMA proprietary software
- Experience using FEMA Grants Management Portal preferred
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment under stressful conditions
- Ability to work 8-12 hours/day, 5-6 days a week
- Must have a clean driving record and able to maintain a valid driver's license in order to operate a company, personal, or rental vehicle

Salary Range
The projected range for this position is $55 to $70 hourly. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
