Feed Mill Manager
We are looking for a Feed Mill Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of feed mill operations, ensuring the efficient production and delivery of high-quality feed products while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards. This position is responsible for ingredient procurement, production scheduling, maintenance planning, budget management, employee supervision, quality control, and customer service support.
The Feed Mill Manager leads a team of mill employees and feed delivery personnel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting production goals by ensuring feed availability, operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the feed manufacturing facility to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production.
- Order feed ingredients and coordinate railcar deliveries and spotting schedules with railroad providers.
- Supervise all feed mill personnel, including feed haul drivers and production staff.
- Schedule, coordinate, and assist with preventative and corrective maintenance activities for mill equipment.
- Prepare batch feed and oversee feed production processes as needed.
- Develop and manage capital budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Perform dispatch duties and coordinate feed delivery logistics when necessary.
- Implement and maintain quality control programs and operating procedures to ensure product consistency and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate supply of ingredients and materials.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Drive operational improvements focused on productivity, efficiency, and cost control.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
- Education: Associate Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Feed Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Business Management, or a related field preferred. Completion of a vocational/technical certification program in a related field may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of directly related feed mill, manufacturing, agricultural, or production management experience required. Equivalent directly related work experience may be accepted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of the educational requirement. Demonstrated leadership and employee supervision experience. Experience managing budgets, capital expenditures, and operational costs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production management systems.
- Skills: Knowledge of feed manufacturing processes, ingredient handling, quality control, and preventative maintenance programs. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Capabilities: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and after-hours support as operational needs require. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and perform physical tasks associated with mill operations when necessary. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
