What You Will Do:

Guidehouse supports the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to execute its mission to ensure our nation has the safest, most efficient and modern transportation system in the world. In support of that mission, we are searching for a Managing Consultant to help DOT consolidate and improve its grants system. We are seeking Managing Consultants experienced with process improvement and the federal grants lifecycle, particularly the post-award phase, to support DOT in improving its grant process. The Managing Consultant we are looking for has strong critical thinking skills, experience in client interaction and facilitation, and demonstrated experience delivering solutions.  

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of high-quality client deliverables that meet client requirements
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in post-award federal grants management, including monitoring, compliance, reporting, and closeout activities aligned to federal regulations
  • Manage and provide guidance, coaching, and quality assurance to junior staff
  • Identify, analyze, and improve business processes
  • Work with diverse stakeholders to fully understand business requirements and interdependencies
  • Lead the facilitation of client meetings, work groups, and interviews
  • Develop detailed project schedules to monitor performance
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues
  • Develop detailed status reports for individual programs
  • Work with stakeholders to help keep projects on-time and within budget


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"
  • Based on our contractual obligations, candidate must be located within the United States and US Citizen
  • 9+ years of management consulting experience and/or grants management, preferably within the public sector
  • Experience with federal grants programs, specific experience with grants post award highly preferred
  • Experience working with the federal government
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in client service and team-based environments, especially when tackling unstructured problems
  • Strong attention to detail, well organized and ability to self-prioritize multiple activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • This is a hybrid role requiring some days in the Guidehouse office and/or client site.


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience working with federal, state, or local transportation organizations
  • CGMS or other grants management certification
  • PMP, Agile or other project or program management certification
