POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Federal Data Engineer serves as the technical lead responsible for designing, implementing, integrating, and optimizing enterprise data engineering solutions for Hitachi Federal customers.

This highly customer-facing role partners with Project Managers, Solution Architects, Sales Engineers, and customer technical teams to deliver complex professional services engagements leveraging Hitachi's Data Intelligence portfolio.

The successful candidate combines strong software engineering and enterprise data engineering expertise with consulting skills to architect scalable solutions, mentor junior engineers, develop new service offerings, and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Leadership
  • Lead the technical delivery of complex professional services engagements from design through implementation.
  • Design enterprise-scale data engineering solutions that meet customer business and technical requirements.
  • Lead customer architecture workshops, technical planning sessions, and solution reviews.
  • Translate customer business objectives into scalable technical solutions.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point throughout project delivery.
  • Drive customer success through high-quality solution implementation and technical leadership.

Professional Services Delivery
  • Deliver enterprise data engineering, data integration, and object storage solutions.
  • Partner closely with Project Managers to ensure projects remain on schedule, within scope, and aligned to customer expectations.
  • Review Statements of Work (SOWs), technical design documents, delivery checklists, and implementation plans.
  • Develop customer-facing architecture documentation, implementation guides, and technical deliverables.
  • Communicate project status and technical risks to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Consistently exceed customer expectations for quality, professionalism, and technical excellence.

Solution Design & Development
  • Design and develop Java-based applications, APIs, integrations, and automation solutions.
  • Develop reusable software components, plugins, and integration frameworks.
  • Design scalable enterprise data pipelines and data orchestration workflows.
  • Implement RESTful API integrations between enterprise systems.
  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot complex enterprise software and infrastructure issues.

Innovation & Service Development
  • Learn and deliver new Hitachi Federal service offerings.
  • Participate in proof-of-concept initiatives and technology evaluations.
  • Develop repeatable implementation methodologies and best practices.
  • Contribute to internal lab development and service innovation.
  • Recommend improvements that increase delivery quality and operational efficiency.

Collaboration & Leadership
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across the Professional Services organization.
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers during customer pursuits and technical presentations.
  • Partner with Product, Support, and Engineering teams to resolve complex customer issues.
  • Support knowledge sharing through documentation, training sessions, and peer mentoring.
  • Foster strong customer relationships built on trust and technical credibility.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Active Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 8 years of enterprise software engineering, data engineering, or professional services consulting experience
  • Proven experience leading technical implementation projects within enterprise environments
  • Experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures and integrations
  • Strong customer-facing consulting and communication skills
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Compensation

Expected Hiring Range:$160,000-$205,000 annually

Hitachi Federal is committed to providing equitable, competitive, and market-based compensation. The expected hiring range listed above represents the anticipated salary range for a qualified candidate at the time of posting and has been established in good faith based on the requirements of the position.
