Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a Fault Management Systems Engineer – Level 2 or 3 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA.

The candidate must have experience in or an understanding of the definition, specification, application, and test of Automated Fault Management architecture, and experience in or an understanding of AFM test planning and execution is required. Additionally, this position can be filled at either Level 2 Systems Engineer or Level 3 Principal Systems Engineer.

*This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.*

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Support Autonomy and Fault Management (AFM) development

-Support Fault and Autonomy onboard response development

-Develop & execute per the development process for Stored Command Sequences

-Support development of payload fault management architecture

-Support development and execution of verification and validation tests to be used on software simulators, test beds, and to sell-off fault management requirements

-Support execution of AFM tests, approve test results and/or reports, and generate requirement verification reports

-Experience in or an understanding of AFM test in FSW (Flight Software), SVTB (Space Vehicle Test Bed), and AI&T (Assembly Integration & Test) required

Basic Qualifications for Level 2 Systems Engineer – Fault Management:

-Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 2+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline

-Experience in or exposure to System Engineering Autonomy and Fault Management architecture

-Experience in or exposure to design, OPSCON, and/or Flight Software-related Launch & Operations with Anomaly Resolution/Recovery background or understanding

-Candidate must have active SCI access at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date OR

-Candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date as well as the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to the candidate’s maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Basic Qualifications for Level 3 Principal Systems Engineer – Fault Management:

-Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 3+ years of engineering experience OR

-PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 1+ year(s) of engineering experience

-Experience in or exposure to System Engineering Autonomy and Fault Management architecture

-Experience in or exposure to design, OPSCON, and/or Flight Software-related Launch & Operations with Anomaly Resolution/Recovery background or understanding

-Candidate must have active SCI access at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date OR

Preferred Qualifications:

-Master’s Degree or above in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline 

-Ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity

-Ability to work independently without appreciable direction

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

-Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance (or equivalent) with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) along with active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
