Nurse Practitioner

Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center (SHCMHC)

Location: Southern West Virginia- Mercer County
Employment Type: Full-Time

What You'll Do

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and risk assessments
  • Diagnose and treat mental health and substance use disorders within your scope of practice
  • Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications
  • Provide Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), when credentialed and authorized
  • Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies as appropriate
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nurses, case managers, and other members of the treatment team
  • Coordinate care with hospitals, primary care providers, pharmacies, and community partners
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance activities
  • Provide education to consumers and families regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment options
  • Support a person-centered, recovery-focused approach to care

Qualifications

Required
  • Master's degree (or higher) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the applicable state
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification (PMHNP, FNP, or other applicable certification)
  • Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and protect patient confidentiality

Preferred
  • Experience working in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, integrated care, or community mental health
  • Experience providing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
  • Familiarity with CCBHC and CARF standards
