Full Job Description
THE ROLE:

The Facility Manager will provide hands-on technical leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant building maintenance practices. In collaboration with the Sr. Director of Operations and other departments, this role is responsible for driving operational excellence while overseeing safety, compliance, and efficiency across all maintenance activities for the Portland Thorns and Portland Fire teams at our brand-new dual-sport Performance Center in Hillsboro, OR. The Facility Manager will lead the response to building system breakdowns and repairs, as well as manage daily responsibilities related to preventive maintenance and the oversight of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, life safety, and building automation systems.

WHAT YOU'LL BE UP TO:
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Manage and execute preventive maintenance and repair programs to ensure building machinery and systems meet or exceed their expected useful life.
  • Prioritize and evaluate incoming service requests through the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS), determining work assignments for in-house staff and identifying when third-party contractors are required.
  • Complete work orders and preventive maintenance tasks in a timely and efficient manner using hands-on diagnostic and repair techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable city, state, and federal safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and monitor building automation systems (BAS) to ensure proper scheduling, setpoint ranges, system settings, and optimal comfort levels for players, staff, and guests.
  • Monitor and track utility usage to support efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation within the CMMS, including work order status, task completion, inventory tracking, equipment records, and maintenance-related expenses.
  • Use hand and power tools to troubleshoot, repair, install, operate, and maintain a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Perform physically demanding work as required, including standing, climbing, and maneuvering for extended periods.
  • Proactively uphold and exceed world-class facility standards through routine maintenance and repairs such as patching, painting, lighting replacement, and repairs to doors, windows, drywall, and finishes.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and oversight of projects and contractors related to major building systems.
  • Maintain organized records, schedules, and documentation related to MEP equipment, fire and life safety systems, and other building infrastructure.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Performance Center maintenance staff to support high performance, safety, and accountability.


WHAT IT TAKES:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a commercial or large-scale facility maintenance environment, with demonstrated knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Applicable state or local licensure, certification, or training related to facility operations, boiler systems, or mechanical systems is preferred.
  • Proven understanding of relevant regulations and standards, including OSHA, Electrical Code, Fire Code, Building Code, and ADA requirements.
  • Hands-on training and experience with mechanical systems and HVAC equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex building system issues.
  • Experience supporting large building operations, with a strong understanding of building infrastructure, system interdependencies, and operational best practices.
  • Ability to provide informed, experienced guidance and recommendations related to building systems, maintenance strategies, and operational improvements.
  • Working knowledge of core MEP systems, building automation systems (BAS), and facility management platforms (e.g., CMMS).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation, schedules, priorities, and multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and calendar tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work efficiently, prioritize competing objectives, and exercise sound, independent judgment aligned with organizational policies.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, operational environment.
  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to identify, address, and resolve issues before they escalate.
  • Ability to safely lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
