DescriptionThe Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) is seeking a Facility Administrator - Corrections to help lead a mission-driven team serving youth awaiting court outcomes. As a licensed Minnesota Department of Corrections facility, the JDC plays a critical role in providing safe, supportive, and culturally responsive services for residents ages 10 to 18+. This leadership position offers the opportunity to shape policies, guide staff, and make a meaningful impact on youth and the broader Hennepin County community.
Location and hours:This position is located at the JDC at 510 Park Ave South, Minneapolis, MN 55415. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with evening and weekend on call responsibilities.

In this position, you will: - Establish and modify correctional division policies and procedures to be consistent with departmental, county, and state regulations.
- Make periodic evaluation of staff performance and operating units and take or recommend appropriate action.
- Provide leadership to managers in hiring, motivating, and/or training of correctional division staff and participate in succession planning, as appropriate.
- Assist with the preparation and administration of the division budget.
- Address complaints from clients, residents, staff, community agencies, and the general public in coordinating efforts for resolution with the Professional Standards and Conduct Unit.
- Develop objectives, standards, and controls necessary for administration of division programs and services at the JDC.
- Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
Need to have:- One of the following:
- Nine years or more of experience in corrections, two of which must have been in administration or supervision.
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral/social science, or business, correctional, or public administration or equivalent and five years or more of the experience in corrections, two of which must have been in administration or supervision.
- Master's degree or higher in criminal justice, behavioral/social science, or business, correctional, or public administration or equivalent and four years or more of experience in corrections.

- Understanding of political environments and government work; confident decision-making skills and the ability to balance responsiveness to concerns with the perseverance to lead in a political environment.
- Have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
