Facilities Technician III

Intercity Transit is seeking a full-time Facilities Technician III to join our Facilities Team. In this role, you will contribute to a collaborative and team-oriented work environment by sharing knowledge, leading through your actions and example, and demonstrating a strong commitment to Intercity Transit's mission, vision, and values.

Our Facilities Team plays an essential role in keeping Intercity Transit's operations running safely and efficiently. The Facilities Team perform duties related to the day-to-day repair, maintenance, and safe operations of our buildings and facilities. The team is responsible for the maintenance and repair of our facilities, grounds, park-and-ride lots, bus shelters, and bus stops throughout our service area. This work also helps ensure our facilities and operations comply with applicable state, federal, and local environmental and safety standards.

Work Schedule: This position typically works Monday-Friday day shift and participates in a rotating on-call schedule. Schedule adjustments may be required based on operational needs.

Examples of Duties
As a Facilities Technician III, you will:
  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on major pieces of equipment.
  • Operates equipment/systems as assigned; adjusts, starts, stops special schedules, tests. Establishes/records equipment reading, i.e., pressure, temperature, volumes, electrical quantities for variable operating/climate conditions
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and diagnose problems with boiler and chiller systems, DOAS, electrical, electro-mechanical, electronic, and pneumatic control systems/components, fire alarm, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), security equipment maintenance components and other complex systems in IT facilities.
  • Performs activities related to planning and implementing maintenance and repair projects. Research options and implements within approved authority.
  • Uses specialized equipment to perform testing and assessment of equipment and evaluate performance and reliability. Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, contract provisions, and FTA requirements. Proposes and implements corrective actions.
  • Sets and adjusts parameters within computer software system: fire monitoring systems, Direct Digital Control (DDC), and security systems.
  • Performs activities related to planning and implementing maintenance and repair projects such as: participating in meeting with vendors, customers, engineers, architects and user department representatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
Are you the one we are looking for?
  • Completion of vocational training program(s) in a building maintenance field. Must possess a certification or journey level license in electrical systems or mechanical equipment and controls with advanced knowledge of the codes and regulations.
  • Preferred/Desired: One or more of the following licenses/certificates - EL01, EL06, EL06A, Journey-level HVAC Technician, EPA Section 608 Technician certification.
  • Three (3) years' experience in building equipment/systems maintenance and operation which includes one (1) year of hands-on experience in controls, two (2) years of hands-on experience with major mechanical equipment and electrical repairs.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Washington Driver's License.

Must be able to obtain:
  • Forklift Certification and Safety At Heights
  • Competent Person Certification
  • Department of Transportation Flagger Certification
  • Burlington North Sante Fe Railway Access Certification

Knowledge of:

Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS)

Employees are covered under PERS I, PERS II and PERS III of the Employee and Employer contributions are required at start of employment.

Deferred Compensation Plans (401K and 457)

Intercity Transit offers three voluntary deferred compensation plans. Employees who contribute at least 8.5% to a plan receive a 8.5% employer match. Employee contributions are not subject to federal income tax until withdrawn.
Longevity Pay

Eligible employees will receive a Longevity Benefit upon reaching designated service milestones based on continuous employment and hire date. The benefit is awarded at the applicable milestone rate only and does not compound.

Employees with 5-9 years of service receive a 1% Longevity Benefit; 10-14 years receive 2%; 15-19 years receive 4%; and 20 or more years receive 6%.

Vacation Leave & Sick Leave

Employees accrue 23.75 to 36 vacation days per year depending on length of service. The maximum accrual limit is 360 hours.

Employees accrue 12 days of sick leave per year depending upon date of eligibility. The maximum accrual limit is 960 hours.
