Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt (Year-Round)

Location: Richmond, CA

You are choosing a career focused on impact, safety, and community. As the Facilities Supervisor, you will lead the operational integrity of our expansive 20.25-acre campus (approx. 304,000 sq. ft.). This isn't just about managing real estate-it's about ensuring a safe, fully compliant, and high-functioning environment where our educational mission thrives.

You will blend high-level strategic oversight with decisive, hands-on action. From leading our custodial team and managing essential infrastructure vendors to serving as our frontline Incident Commander during emergencies, your work keeps our community secure and operational.
What you'll be doing...
Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
  • Leading, training, and evaluating a high-performing custodial and maintenance team.
  • Building schedules and coverage models to guarantee 24/7 campus support for building usage and special academy events.
  • Utilizing a digital ticketing system (CMMS) to prioritize, track, and resolve facilities requests.
  • Conducting daily physical walkthroughs of the 20.25-acre campus to identify hazards, assess maintenance needs, and eliminate security vulnerabilities.
  • Managing campus transitions, office/classroom relocations, and the upkeep, registration, and safe operation of school support vehicles.
Safety, Crisis & Risk Management
  • Evaluating, updating, and executing critical compliance frameworks including our Comprehensive School Safety Plan (CSSP), Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), and Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP).
  • Scheduling, conducting, and documenting mandatory safety drills (fire, earthquake, lockdown) for all staff.
  • Acting as the immediate first responder and Incident Commander for campus emergencies or critical medical incidents.
  • Ensuring 100% operational readiness of all life-safety systems (AEDs, alarms, fire extinguishers).
Vendor Management & Compliance Integration
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for specialized contractors (HVAC, landscaping, pest control, security).
  • Ensuring unwavering campus alignment with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, ADA, and municipal fire code standards.
What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
  • 4+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, commercial property management, or operations.
  • 2+ years of direct supervisory experience leading and scheduling custodial or maintenance personnel.
  • Proven experience handling contractor relations and vendor bid evaluations (e.g., HVAC, security, or trades).
  • Working knowledge of asset management digital tools or work order ticketing systems (CMMS).
  • Demonstrated capability to remain calm, structured, and authoritative under pressure during high-stress emergency situations.
  • Willingness to work flexible, non-standard hours, including required evenings, weekends, and occasional overtime.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
Even better if you have:
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Prior facilities or operations management experience within an educational environment (K-12 or higher ed), a large corporate campus, or a public facility.
  • A deep-rooted record of service and a visible passion for community engagement and the wellbeing of others.
