Job Summary
Assist in the management of the University of Chicago's athletic and recreational facilities. Oversight of the equipment room and the supervision of the personnel needed to accomplish these tasks. Also oversees the master schedule for all facilities. Contributes to a portion of event management for varsity contests.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the management of the University of Chicago's athletic and recreational facilities. Manage the Equipment Room. Supervise personnel needed to perform these tasks. Coordinate and oversee the inter-departmental facilities scheduling.
  • At the direction of the Associate Director of Athletics-Facilities Management, responsible for the evening facilities security, oversight, and risk management of the athletic/recreational facilities. Supervise and evaluate the lifeguard staff, the front desk staff and the fitness center staff. Enforce facilities policies and procedures.
  • Uses general understanding and experience to administer the delivery of services to program participants and/or beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate laundry services for the department. Order equipment, clothing and laundry supplies. Maintain equipment and clothing inventory. Implement distribution system. Coordinate the supply of dispensers and soap to the locker rooms. Manage the locker-clean-out system. Maintain the Lost and Found system. Develop and implement Equipment Room policies and procedures. Maintain an organized storage system for equipment and clothing. Negotiate and oversee service contracts with relevant vendors (ie. washer/dryers, detergent, and clothing.)
  • Oversee the Locker Room Attendants and student staff. Hire, train, schedule, supervise, provide direction, evaluate and discipline personnel. Administer overtime assignments. Adhere to union and safety guidelines. Develop and implement employee policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for all athletic/recreational facilities. Resolve scheduling conflicts. Promptly schedules information provided from various entities of the department to develop master schedules. Distribute schedule information to appropriate individuals within the department and on campus. Post schedules as designated throughout the facilities.
  • At the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director - Facilities & Operations, follow guidelines and procedures that have been established for overseeing events, including oversight of Athletic Aides at assigned events.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with department staff members, vendors, and outside groups using facilities. Develop a strong customer service rapport with students and members. Other duties as assigned. Attend and participate in a weekly Facilities Management meeting.
  • Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Analyzes program budgets and uses a moderate/high level of authority to recommend or makes budgetary recommendations.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
