Full Job Description
What this job involves - The Facilities Manager - Engineering is a specialized leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight and tactical execution of all engineering deliverables at the site. Reporting directly to the Senior Facilities Manager, this individual acts as a technical advisor to the client and a key collaborator with the existing Facilities Manager. You will lead a dedicated Facilities Coordinator (Engineering) and oversee the internal vendor management team to ensure high-performance building operations, safety compliance, and the successful delivery of complex engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Operations & Project Management
  • Direct Accountability: Own all engineering deliverables, including engineering projects and JLL safety compliance initiatives.
  • Systems Oversight: Maximize infrastructure uptime and system redundancy by proactively managing critical facility systems, specifically HVAC (CRAC, MAU, PCU, Chiller systems), electrical distribution systems, and commercial plumbing systems.
  • Specialized Systems: Oversee maintenance and repairs for all JLL maintained assets including commercial kitchen hood systems and critical infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure Strategy: Coordinate and execute critical building activities, such as electrical shutdowns following client and JLL Protocol; with advance notice in an R&D environment.
  • Technical Advisory: Partner with the JLL Account Engineering team to advise the client on future build-outs, ensuring all new spaces are operationally viable for long-term management. Review facility designs against client specifications, and actively participate in commissioning to ensure a high-quality, seamless handover to operations.
  • Documentation: Interpret architectural & engineering drawings to extract critical information for operational planning and project execution.


Vendor & Landlord Relations
  • Vendor Management: Supervise the Facilities Coordinator (Engineering) in managing the internal vendor team, owning all vendor activity, performance, and contract compliance.
  • Landlord Liaison: Serve as a primary Point of Contact (POC) for the Landlord regarding all engineering activities and building-wide technical coordination.
  • Procurement: Evaluate vendors and suppliers regularly to ensure quality service and competitive pricing.


Compliance & Safety
  • Safety Leadership: Implement and monitor all JLL and client-specific health, safety, environment, and risk management policies including technical oversight for emergency response, incident response and root cause analyses. Ensure accurate and up to date Methods of Procedures (MOP) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
  • Regulatory Standards: Ensure all site operations comply with OSHA standards, local codes, and Fire Safety requirements.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit comprehensive maintenance and portfolio reports, including energy usage, UPS battery status, and financial variances.


Financial & People Leadership
  • Budgeting: Partnering with the Facilities Manager ensuring operational expenditure within agreed budgets, identifying cost efficiencies and supporting annual capital planning.
  • Team Development: Lead, develop, and supervise a professional engineering team, focusing on onboarding, training, and performance excellence.
  • Culture: Act as a JLL ambassador, fostering an environment of teamwork, ethics, and personal success.


Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: Minimum 5 + years of experience in facilities management, property management, or a high-intensity engineering field.
  • Supervisory: At least 5 + years of experience managing hard services teams and vendors.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire/life safety systems. Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural/technical drawings is required. Knowledge of building automation systems, chillers, boilers, gas detection systems, and compressed gas systems. Working knowledge of CGA (Compressed Gas Association) standards. Strong working knowledge of Building Management Systems and digital control systems.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Facility, Property, or Operations Management is preferred.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellence in communication and client relationship management.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and quantitative skills.
    • Proficiency in IT tools and facility management platforms.

Estimated compensation for this position:

101,500.00 - 130,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
