Full Job Description
WHO YOU ARE:

Astro Mechanica is building next-generation propulsion, and our facilities have to move as fast as our engineering. We're hiring a Plant Manager to own day-to-day operations across our San Francisco sites: manufacturing, test/prototyping, and office, reporting to the Head of Facilities. You'll take operational ownership of running the sites so the facilities function can scale: uptime, safety, vendors, and execution of upgrade projects. In addition, you'll be instrumental in establishing and building the expansion of supersonic aircraft & system manufacturing and test facilities, helping to usher in a new age of supersonic flight.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Own daily operations of our design, manufacturing, and test/proto sites, including facility upgrades in flight (electrical, compressed air, equipment installs)
  • Manage contractors and vendors end-to-end: quotes, scheduling, quality, closeout
  • Run preventative maintenance, safety compliance (OSHA, fire, hazmat), and site readiness for engineering, manufacturing, and test operations
  • Drive small-to-mid capital projects from requirements to commissioning
  • Support site transitions: deployments, closeouts, handovers, and standing up new space as we grow into our next facility
  • Build the operational systems (tickets, PM schedules, vendor tracking) that let the function run without heroics
  • Partner with the Head of Facilities & Infrastructure Development on capital projects, upgrades, and continuous improvement
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
  • 5+ years in plant/facilities operations, ideally in aerospace, automotive, and/or precision manufacturing
  • Hands-on fluency with industrial electrical, compressed air, and all building systems
  • Ability to ready and work with building drawing sets and create proposals for contractors & vendors (as well as internal review)
  • Track record managing trades and contractors in an active production environment
  • Comfort in a fast-moving startup: ambiguity, scrappiness, high degree of ownership
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

NICE TO HAVE:
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or test operations (propulsion, engines, or similar), CMMS experience, EHS certification
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, ASME, OSHA, IBC/CBC, Codes & Permitting, etc
  • Electrician, HVAC/Mechanical/Plumbing, Construction certifications and licenses
  • Interest in field operations
  • Lifting & Rigging experience

PERKS & BENEFITS:
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, including Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
  • 401(k) program and transparent stock option plan
  • Self-managed and flexible time-off policy, including PTO, paid holidays, and sick time
  • Flexible work environment
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

At Astro Mechanica, we highly value in-office work to foster collaboration and strengthen our company culture. We consider working in the office five days a week an essential part of the employee's role.
