Responsibilities

Full Job Description
HGA is seeking a Facilities Engineer to support operations in Ruston, LA. This position is responsible for developing and executing engineering deliverables for assigned projects. The Senior Facilities Engineer will prepare and review calculations, design drawings, and technical documentation, and collaborate closely with designers and other disciplines in the development of 3D models. The role supports construction and procurement activities by providing accurate drawings, material take-offs, and as-built documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize initial designs and provide technical guidance to engineers and designers/drafters during preliminary design.

  • Estimate engineering manpower requirements and track progress throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Perform detailed mechanical design of complex facilities and provide direction to the design team.

  • Execute design calculations including hydraulic, stress, and wall thickness calculations, as well as piping specifications and equipment sizing.

  • Prepare equipment specifications, data sheets, and inquiry packages; perform technical and commercial bid evaluations.

  • Generate purchase requisitions and review vendor drawings and bills of material (pipe, fittings, valves, etc.).

  • Conduct design checking for complex facility layouts.

  • Collaborate with the Design Lead to maintain project schedules and ensure timely delivery of information.

  • Ensure the content and accuracy of final design documents.

  • Perform field surveys to determine optimal equipment layouts, operations, and safety compliance.

  • Support the Design Lead with budget, schedule, and scope adherence.

  • Participate in multi-discipline design and drafting package reviews.

  • Review vendor data for equipment and components within assigned scope.

  • Maintain and track design criteria needed for project completion.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in design engineering, facility design, or equipment specification.

  • Strong knowledge of engineering practices, design details, international codes and standards, and project procedures.

  • Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, and applicable piping codes strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Chemical industry required.

  • Experience with a consulting engineering firm preferred.

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license preferred; willingness to pursue licensure required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

  • Candidates should reside within commuting distance of one of the listed locations.
