Job Description

We are hiring for a Facilities Controls Engineer I, II or III, compensation and duties are dependent upon leveling.

The Facilities Controls Engineer is to provide technical support for the facilities SCADA/BAS/BMS and electrical systems. This includes the camera and card access systems along with UPS systems, equipment, and controls projects at JHS-Spokane. The position may participate directly or assist others on project teams which are responsible for the design, acquisition, installation, and/or upgrade of critical systems and equipment used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. The Facilities Controls Engineer assumes responsibility for participation in capital and expense projects involving controls in facility or production equipment, cost reduction, process improvement, and/or compliance. In addition, the Facilities Controls Engineer will provide engineering support to include new construction support, process development, process optimization, and deviation investigations.

  • Provides technical assistance for JHS-Spokane facilities SCADA/BAS/BMS and electrical systems. This includes the camera and card access systems along with UPS systems equipment controls systems.
  • Provides technical support of Facility Controls projects including facility and utility expansion, compliance upgrades, cost reduction, contract manufacturing, process improvements, construction projects, etc.
  • Participates in support, guidance, and training for facility technicians to include controls system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Provides controls engineering support and guidance for support of related capital projects.
  • Responsible for acquiring & maintaining knowledge of regulatory requirements for the facility and processes to ensure compliance to local, state, federal and international regulatory agencies.
  • Manages and/or participates in capital and expense facility projects in a manner that is compliant with the "Project Management Guidelines" system. This system includes methods for scheduling, budgeting, meeting management, teamwork, communication, and documentation of a multi-departmental project team.
  • Must work effectively with various internal and external customers on a daily basis. Internal customers may include departments such as Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Validation, Finance, etc. External interactions will include officials from local, state or federal regulatory agencies, A&E firms, construction firms, vendors, equipment manufacturers, etc.
  • Participates in compliance to both short-term and long-term company objectives as defined by upper management.
  • Development of detailed specifications and RFQs to be used by A&E firms, contractors or equipment manufacturers to accurately quote on projects being pursued by the company.
  • Responsible for developing and using systems of engineering documentation required by regulatory agencies and in compliance with generally accepted engineering guidelines, SOPs, or quality standards.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field required.

Skills

Level I
  • 1-3 years of engineering experience required.
  • Internship, co-op, or experience supporting automation, controls, electrical systems, or facility operations preferred.
  • Exposure to BAS/BMS or SCADA systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with PLC fundamentals preferred.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
  • A preferred understanding of industrial networking concepts desired.
  • Experience in a regulated environment is preferred.

Level II
  • 3-7 years of experience supporting facility automation or industrial control systems.
  • Internship, co-op, or experience supporting automation, controls, electrical systems, or facility operations preferred.
  • Experience with BAS/BMS systems (Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider, Honeywell, etc.) •
  • SCADA system administration and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of GMP-regulated environments.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • TCP/IP networking experience preferred.
  • SQL database fundamentals preferred.

Level III
  • 10 years' experience in building automation systems.
  • PE, Siemens PPCL programming certifications preferred.
  • Prior experience in Manufacturing or Production Environment preferred.
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD preferred.
  • TCP/IP Networking skills preferred.
  • Microsoft SQL Server skills preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across departments required.

Location: Spokane, WA - On Site, Full- -Time

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00- 4:30pm with other hours as requested
