Full Job Description
About the Role

We are launching a brand-new swing shift in September 2026, and we need a visionary, powerhouse leader to help build it from the ground up. As our Fabrication Production Supervisor, you will be working closely with our Fabrication manager to design its culture, structure, and operational workflow.

This is a hands-on, floor-present leadership role reporting directly to the Fabrication Manufacturing Production Manager. The permanent hours for this role are Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. However, to ensure you are fully aligned with our culture, processes, and equipment, you will initially train on the day shift (Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM) before transitioning to lead the evening team.

You will be fully responsible for pioneering our swing shift operations to support Torus's Flywheel Energy Storage Systems (FESS) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role requires a technically astute leader with deep roots in a metal manufacturing environment, elite organizational skills to handle the logistics of a new shift launch, and the practical working knowledge required to troubleshoot advanced machinery, guide operators, and ensure maximum precision and throughput.

Who You Are

  • A Trailblazer & Builder: You thrive in ambiguous situations and are excited by the challenge of setting up a new shift, establishing processes, and creating a cohesive, high-performing team from scratch.
  • Adaptable & Flexible: You are ready to dive into day-shift training (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) to master our systems, with the seamless ability to transition and own the swing shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM) full-time.
  • An Elite Organizer: Launching a shift requires massive coordination. You possess exceptional organizational and scheduling skills to manage personnel, material flow, and handoffs between shifts seamlessly.
  • A Master of the Craft: You aren't just familiar with fabrication; you have deep, practical roots in high-precision metal fabrication, laser cutting, and forming environments. You know the capabilities and nuances of advanced CNC machinery.
  • Hands-on & Floor-Present: You lead from the production floor, not from behind a desk. You are ready to stand side-by-side with your team to solve technical issues and keep the line moving.
  • Safety-First Leader: You believe a safe workplace is a productive workplace and rigidly uphold safety protocols on the floor.
  • A Coach & Mentor: You take pride in onboarding, cross-training personnel, and elevating the technical skills of your team.

Responsibilities

  • Production Execution: Oversee daily fabrication activities to meet strict output targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules. Communicate shift priorities clearly across teams.
  • Technical Equipment Oversight: Serve as the primary floor resource to support, guide, and troubleshoot operations on key production machinery, including:
    • Tube Laser: BLM Group ADIGE Laser Tube LT7
    • Manual Press Brakes: BLM Group Pro Bend E-Series (260-100 and 260-150)
    • Automatic Panel Bender: Prima Power Express Bender (EBe2726 and EBe2226)
    • Plate Laser: BLM Group ADIGE-SYS LS7Team
    • Welding Department: Oversee and support production welding operations
  • Management & Development: Lead, develop, and mentor a team of fabrication technicians, CNC operators, and setup personnel. Drive onboarding, cross-training, and performance evaluations.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering to ensure all fabricated components meet tight tolerances, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
  • Safety & Compliance: Champion a culture of safety. Ensure absolute compliance with OSHA regulations, company PPE requirements, and machine safeguarding.
  • Continuous Improvement: Apply lean manufacturing principles to minimize setup scrap, optimize material nesting/yields, and reduce cycle times.

Required Experience

  • Education: High school diploma/GED with extensive experience; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field is a plus.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in a heavy metal manufacturing or fabrication environment, with proven experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Demonstrated operational or strong supervisory familiarity with CNC laser cutting (tube/plate) and precision forming equipment (manual press brakes and/or automatic panel benders).
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Systems: Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and basic digital workspaces (Google Workspace/MS Office).
  • Safety: Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety best practices.

Preferred Experience

  • Direct programming, setup, or operational experience with BLM Group or Prima Power machinery.
  • Experience in energy storage, heavy industrial equipment, automotive, or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or similar continuous improvement certifications.
