Job Description:

The Fab Metrology & Yield Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for defining, owning, and continuously improving metrology, inspection, and yield-monitoring capabilities within the fabrication facility. Reporting directly to the Fab Engineering Process Director, this role provides technical leadership in automated optical inspection (AOI) tool bring-up, production microscopy systems, flying probe test operations, and profilometry equipment.

The position partners closely with integration, yield and process engineering to ensure robust measurement capability, actionable defect and yield data, and disciplined problem-solving that drives yield improvement, excursion prevention, and production stability. They also partner with the equipment maintenance team to ensure proper maintenance procedures and schedules for the equipment owned by this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Compliance: Operate and support metrology and inspection equipment in full compliance with EHS standards, cleanroom protocols, and equipment safety requirements; proactively identify and mitigate safety and equipment-related risks.

AOI Tool Ownership & Bring-Up: Lead installation, qualification, recipe development, and production release of automated optical inspection tools; ensure stable performance, image fidelity, and correlation to failure mechanisms.

Production Microscopy: Own fab microscopy platforms (optical and related techniques), enabling rapid defect review, root cause analysis, and engineering decision-making for development and high-volume production.

Flying Probe Testing: Support and optimize flying probe test equipment and methodologies; ensure data accuracy, correlation to downstream inspection, and effective feedback to process engineering.

Profilometry & Surface Metrology: Own profilometry systems and measurement techniques to characterize film thickness, topography, and critical surface features; ensure measurement repeatability and relevance to process control.

Probe Tips: Own tool set and process used to form and measure mems probe tips.

Yield Analysis & Excursion Response: Analyze inspection and metrology data to identify yield limiters, defect trends, and process excursions; lead technical investigations using structured problem-solving methods and partner with module owners on corrective actions.

Data & SPC Systems: Develop and maintain SPC strategies for metrology and inspection steps.

Documentation & Standards: Generate and maintain work instructions, qualification reports, control plans, and best practices for metrology and inspection systems.

Pay Range:

Pay Range Explained:
This role in Beaverton, Oregon pays between $115,800.00 and $151,935.00 per year, depending on your experience, skills, and background. Pay may vary in other locations. We offer a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), and paid time off. You'll also be eligible for quarterly profit-sharing bonuses and flexible spending or savings accounts.
