Summary
This position is responsible for performing deep-dive electrical, physical, and signal/software failure analysis on complex systems (e.g., servers, networking gear). Located on-site in Houston (not remote/hybrid); expected in office/lab during workdays.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) on complex hardware, system-level, and component failures identified during production, testing.
- Perform circuit/board-level troubleshooting, signal tracing, thermal imaging, and component isolation (e.g., identifying shorted rails, faulty ICs, or corrupted firmware).
- Collaborate with internal teams (Test, Quality, Operations) and external vendors/customers to communicate failure modes, findings, and recommended corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor failure trends (e.g., Pareto analysis of top defects) in production and drive systemic improvements to increase yield and reduce repeat failures.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic software, debug tools, and hardware utilities (e.g., JTAG, I2C/SPI analyzers, bus trace utilities) in Linux/Windows environments.
- Train Technicians, Testers, and Assistant FA Engineers on proper teardown techniques, symptom verification, and basic diagnostic procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications- Proven experience in hardware failure analysis or complex electronics troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on Python, Bash, or Shell scripting experience for automated log parsing, fault extraction, or diagnostic routines.
- Deep experience troubleshooting hardware and firmware issues within Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
- Proficiency in reading circuit schematics, block diagrams, board layouts, and component datasheets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (ability to author clear 8D/RCA reports).
- Strong customer-oriented attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment.
- Provide accurate data and timely initial assessments to internal customers (Production, Quality, Test Engineers) to minimize line stoppages and WIP aging.

Education and Experience- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field required.
- 2+ years of failure analysis or hardware debug experience preferred.
- Manufacturing/production environment experience is required.
