Full Job Description
Valiant is seeking an experienced F/A18E/F Contract Instructor (CI) to serve as the Site Manager for our training program at NAS Oceana. This role blends hands on instruction with site leadership, ensuring effective and compliant delivery of Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) training. You will lead daily training operations, coordinate closely with the Government and FRS Training Office, and personally instruct across all phases of the F/A18E/F syllabus. This is a high visibility position supporting a critical Navy training mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead all site operations and instructor staff, ensuring full contract compliance, delivery of all training and reporting requirements, and serving as the primary liaison to the Government Site COR for all matters affecting performance, quality, and mission execution.
  • Deliver F/A18E/F simulator and classroom instruction, including briefs and debriefs.
  • Use modern training tools (interactive whiteboards, computers, projectors, CAI/CBT).
  • Evaluate student performance and document results in accordance with established criteria.
  • Maintain and update mission scenarios and training materials for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Provide academic instruction (CRM, Instrument Ground School, platform specific coursework).
  • Support training device inspections, certifications, and special projects.
  • Provide instruction on training device operation, briefing/debriefing procedures, and grading/assessment standards.
  • Evaluate and record trainer and training device performance in accordance with established criteria.
  • Assist with simulator and training device testing, including mishap recreation, ECP related evaluations, and certification events.
  • Support updates to curriculum, mission scenarios, tests, and training materials to maintain accuracy and currency.
  • Lead daily site operations, instructor scheduling, and coordination with the FRS.
  • Participate in required FRS meetings (STAN, AOM, CI training, Ops Dept).
  • Maintain proficiency with OFP updates, syllabus changes, and annual certification requirements.
  • Serve as the primary onsite lead for contract performance and maintain open communication between Valiant and the Government.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Active Secret, TS/SCI preferred

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of management experience, including 2+ years managing pilot instruction or aviation training operations.
  • Former F/A18E/F or EA18G NATOPS qualified aircrew, or former F/A18/EA18G simulator instructor within the last 3 years.
  • Minimum 1 Fleet tour.
  • Minimum 800 flying hours in the F/A18E/F.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must meet all Contract Instructor (CI) qualifications and certification requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of:
    • F/A18 missions, crew procedures, and tactics
    • FRAC syllabi and curriculum change processes
    • Aircraft weapons employment and current threat systems
  • Completion of F/A18E/F/G NATOPS open book, closed book, oral, and Boldface exams.
  • Ability to maintain proficiency with OFP updates and syllabus changes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb two flights of stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift, climb, and perform physical tasks as needed.
  • Ability to maintain focus and situational awareness during extended training scenarios.
