Full Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION

JPMorganChase's SEC Reporting group plays a critical role in delivering transparent, high-quality financial disclosures to investors, regulators, and the public. Our Firmwide Analysis team sits at the intersection of accounting, analytics, and storytelling — translating complex financial data into clear narratives that drive confidence in the Firm's reporting. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to some of the most visible external documents JPMorganChase produces.

As an Associate within the Firmwide Analysis team in SEC Reporting, you will prepare and draft key analytical sections of the Firm's quarterly and annual filings, including the Results of Operations and Balance Sheet Analysis. You will develop management reporting materials and maintain critical schedules in the Firm's primary reporting systems, supporting disclosures reviewed by the Global Controller and Investor Relations. You will partner cross-functionally with Line of Business Controllers, Corporate Finance, Accounting Policy, and other stakeholders to ensure external reporting reflects accurate, insightful analysis of business developments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and draft portions of the Results of Operations section within Forms 10-Q and 10-K, including analysis of key business drivers impacting revenue and expense trends
  • Prepare and draft portions of the Balance Sheet Analysis section within Forms 10-Q and 10-K, including analysis and explanation of period-over-period movements across assets, liabilities, and equity
  • Develop analyses and management reporting materials supporting disclosures included in the Earnings Release Financial Supplement and Forms 10-Q and 10-K; these documents are prepared for the Global Controller of JPMorgan Chase
  • Develop and maintain schedules in Consolidated Financials/MIS and BPC – the Firm’s primary reporting systems – that provide details and serve as tools in the performance of the analysis, and back up for the write-ups
  • Support Investor Relations by preparing supplemental analyses and schedules in response to requests from analysts and investors
  • Partner with Line of Business Controllers, Corporate Finance, Investor Relations, Accounting Policy, and other stakeholders to understand business developments and incorporate relevant insights into external reporting
  • Identify opportunities to enhance disclosures through improved analytics, visualization, and presentation techniques to make financial information more accessible and insightful for stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Typically 2+ years of relevant experience in SEC reporting, financial reporting, accounting policy, public accounting, controllership, or a related finance/accounting function
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, including income statement and balance sheet concepts
  • Keen analytical skills, effective communication abilities and attention to detail are essential
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience analyzing large data sets
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage technology, automation, data analytics, and emerging tools to improve reporting and analytical processes
  • Willingness to support quarter-end and year-end reporting cycles, which may require flexibility in work schedules to meet regulatory filing deadlines

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Experience with financial reporting systems and data tools preferred, including BPC, Consolidated Financials/MIS, Wdesk, or similar applications
