Full Job Description
Position Overview:
The Export Compliance Manager / International Business Development professional is responsible for ensuring full compliance with U.S. export control regulations while supporting and expanding the company's global business activities. This role combines regulatory expertise with strategic international growth initiatives, requiring a strong understanding of export laws and the ability to work cross-functionally to enable compliant global sales and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

Export Compliance:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain export compliance programs in accordance with ITAR, EAR, ISO, and OFAC regulations.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on U.S. export control laws and provide guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Classify products, technologies, and technical data under ITAR, ISO, and EAR regulations.
  • Prepare and submit export license applications and agreements (e.g., DSPs, TAAs, MLAs).
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to license conditions and provisos.
  • Conduct internal audits and risk assessments to identify compliance gaps.
  • Maintain records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead investigations and reporting related to potential compliance violations.
  • Deliver export compliance training to employees across relevant departments.


Business Development Support:
  • Support development of partnerships, distributors, and customers in global markets.
  • Collaborate with sales, legal, and operations teams to structure compliant international transactions.
  • Evaluate regulatory requirements for entry into new countries and markets.
  • Provide compliance guidance during contract negotiations and international agreements.
  • Support trade show participation and international customer engagement activities.


Qualifications:
  • This position requires access to technology that is subject to U.S. Export Control Regulations (ITAR). To be eligible as an ITAR Empowered Official, applicants must be a U.S. person which includes U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, asylums, or refugees.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, International Relations, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in export compliance, international trade, or related field.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, ISO, and OFAC regulations.
  • Experience serving as an Empowered Official strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Canadian and European Union export control regulations is a plus.
  • Experience integrating compliance practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with export compliance software/tools.
  • Knowledge of global trade sanctions and restricted party screening.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management capabilities.
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business guidance.


Work Environment:
