Job Description

The Expert Store Engineer: Store Engineering & Innovation serves as the primary engineering liaison to Domino's Restaurant Operations organization. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining engineering solutions, equipment strategies, operating standards, and innovation initiatives that improve restaurant performance, team member experience, customer experience, and operational efficiency across the store network.

The position partners closely with Restaurant Operations, Development, Technology, Supply Chain, Procurement, Training, and Equipment suppliers to identify, evaluate, develop, and implement new technologies, equipment platforms, operational processes, and store design improvements. The role serves as the voice of engineering for store operations and the voice of store operations within engineering, ensuring alignment between field needs, business objectives, and technical solutions.

The Expert Store Engineer will also lead the evaluation and deployment of emerging restaurant technologies and continuous improvement initiatives while helping establish the future roadmap for store design, equipment, automation, communication systems, and operational workflows.

Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership with Restaurant Operations
  • Serve as the primary engineering business partner to Restaurant Operations leadership.
  • Build strong relationships across operations, franchise, development, technology, and supply chain organizations.
  • Represent engineering on operational improvement initiatives affecting restaurant performance.
  • Translate field operational challenges into engineering, technology, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate communication and alignment between restaurant operations, equipment suppliers, engineering teams, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Support restaurant operational readiness for new initiatives, technologies, and equipment deployments.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning and strategic initiatives involving restaurant operations.

Store Equipment, Design & Technical Standards
  • Support development and maintenance of restaurant equipment standards and specifications.
  • Partner with Development, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to evaluate future store concepts and operational requirements.
  • Lead technical assessments of equipment performance, usability, reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle costs.
  • Support development of restaurant design standards and operational best practices.
  • Coordinate testing and implementation of new equipment platforms and technologies.
  • Develop recommendations for standardization and simplification of equipment and operational processes.
  • Partner with Procurement and suppliers to improve equipment performance and value.

Innovation & Emerging Technology
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that enhance restaurant operations and customer experience.
  • Monitor trends in foodservice automation, digital technologies, robotics, kitchen systems, artificial intelligence, and operational analytics.
  • Lead pilot programs and proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Develop business cases supporting restaurants facing innovation investments.
  • Evaluate operational impacts and benefits of new technologies prior to broader deployment.
  • Partner with Technology and Operations teams to develop implementation strategies for approved innovations.

Operational Process Improvement
  • Lead technical and operational process improvement initiatives within restaurant operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve labor efficiency, throughput, safety, quality, and customer service.
  • Utilize Lean, Continuous Improvement, and data-driven methodologies to improve operational performance.
  • Support development of operational standards, training materials, and implementation plans.
  • Measure and report benefits from process improvement initiatives.

Governance, Testing & Field Support
  • Support governance processes for store-related engineering, technology, and innovation initiatives.
  • Coordinate field testing programs and pilot store evaluations.
  • Gather operational feedback from company-owned and franchise locations.
  • Develop recommendations based on performance metrics and field learnings.
  • Support rollout planning and change management activities.
  • Maintain relationships with strategic suppliers, technology partners, and industry organizations.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experiences, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in restaurant operations, engineering, continuous improvement, technology deployment, or related functions.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with operations and business stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations and foodservice environments.
  • Experience leading projects and driving organizational change.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence across multiple functional organizations without direct authority.
  • Experience managing vendors and external partners.
  • Strong business acumen and financial analysis capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in QSR, foodservice, retail, or franchise operations.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing operational technologies.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certification.
  • Experience with store equipment design, kitchen operations, or facility systems.
  • Experience managing pilots, innovation programs, or new concept development.
  • Knowledge of restaurant technology ecosystems including POS, kitchen systems, communication platforms, and digital operations tools.
