What You'll DoAs our
Office Engineer / Field Engineer, you will support construction administration, field observation, and project documentation for active municipal projects. Project scope, complexity, size and duration vary depending on assignment. This position includes field-based work, requiting the ability and willingness to commute to active project site(s).
- Field Support & Construction Observation- Observe construction activities and support field operations on active transportation and public works projects.
- Project Documentation & Administration- Prepare and process RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress payments, and other project communications.
- Technical Support & Interpretation- Assist with interpretation of plans and specifications to support field and office construction decisions.
- Project Records & Compliance- Maintain project files, as-built documentation, schedules, and support prevailing wage and labor compliance tracking.
- Coordination & Communication- Facilitate communication between clients, contractors, and design teams to support project alignment and progress.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- 5 years of prior experience in civil infrastructure, public works, or development projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications
- Strong understanding of the construction process and field operations
- Familiarity with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) standards, specifications, and Construction Manual and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) procedures is preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work on active construction sites, including uneven terrain, ladders, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions
Compensation & Benefits- Pay Range: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
