Full Job Description
Mead & Hunt, an award-winning national architecture and engineering firm, has continued to exceed our strategic growth initiatives creating opportunity for our current and prospective team members. As a result, a full-time position is available for a highly motivated Experienced Military Planner to join our Military and Federal Planning department. This exciting opportunity is available at any of our Mead & Hunt office locations or, potentially, remote for the candidate with the right aptitude and ability.

This position will serve as project planner on multidisciplinary planning projects and will be responsible for the preparation of UFC compliant master planning documentation for Military/Federal clients and other State and Local Government clients as needed.

Responsibilities include:
  • Developing documentation, conceptual, and schematic planning designs for facility layouts
  • Reviewing and approving exhibits, graphics, and documentation for quality and consistency
  • Coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders for project alignment
  • Facilitating presentations and preparing materials for meetings and public engagement.
  • Conducting meetings with clients and facilitating charettes
  • Overseeing regulatory compliance and documentation.
  • Leading advanced QAQC processes and mentor project managers and staff
  • Assisting in preparing proposals, presentations, and business development
  • Managing projects and mentoring technical staff
  • Supporting contract administration and risk management for assigned projects.
  • Serving as a resource for resolving technical challenges
  • Other tasks as assigned.


A valid driver's license, about 25% travel, and entrance onto military bases and airports will be required.

The successful candidate must have all the following:
  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) in planning, architecture, engineering, GIS, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • At least 8 years of relevant federal / military experience.

OR
  • If no degree, must have at least 12 years of relevant federal / military experience.


The ideal candidate will have any/all the following:
  • AICP and/or PMP certification strongly preferred
  • Military planning experience
  • Project management experience and leading project teams
  • Experience with Military Installations and infrastructure
  • Experience with DD1391 preparation
  • Knowledge of Real Property business systems such as RPLANS, GFEBS, HQIIS, ASIP, TRIRIGA, BUILDER SMS, etc.
  • Experience identifying and developing courses of action to address or mitigate facility imbalances
  • Familiar with requisite UFC and military planning criteria
  • Experience providing project updates, metrics, communication, and documentation to clients and stakeholders
  • Experience conducting field evaluations and assessments
  • Skilled with preparation of written reports to clearly communicate findings and opportunities.
  • Experience or familiarity with generative AI-driven tools, platforms, or systems (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to enhance productivity, automate tasks, and reduce errors.

Salary Range: $99,000 to $140,000 - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
