Attorneys with an existing referral network or book of business are encouraged to apply, though it is not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a full caseload of family law matters from intake through resolution
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and court orders
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategies
- Advise clients regarding their legal rights, options, and potential outcomes
- Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations
- Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and trial
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient case management
- Maintain regular client communication and provide case updates
- Ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural rules

- Divorce and separation
- Child custody
- Child support
- Post-separation support and Alimony
- Equitable distribution
- Separation Agreements
- Premarital Agreements
- Domestic violence protective orders
- Post-separation modifications and enforcement actions
- Family law appeals
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active license in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar
- Minimum of 7-10 years of family law experience
- Significant courtroom and hearing experience
- Strong legal writing and advocacy skills
- Experience negotiating settlements and participating in mediation
- Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
- Working knowledge of local rules in Durham, Wake, and surrounding counties
