Overview

Are you an experienced Management Liability claims professional who enjoys analyzing complex coverage issues, managing litigation, and driving thoughtful claim resolutions? Selective Insurance is seeking a Management Liability Complex Claims Specialist to manage a portfolio of Directors & Officers (D&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), and Fiduciary Liability claims. This is a remote position.

In this role, you will manage claims from initial coverage analysis through investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution. You will work closely with insureds, defense counsel, and internal business partners to develop claim strategies, manage litigation activity and budgets, evaluate exposure, and pursue appropriate claim outcomes while considering the impact to both the customer and the company.

Why Join Our Management Liability Claims Team

Join a dynamic and highly collaborative Management Liability Claims team where experienced professionals work together to manage complex D&O, EPL, and Fiduciary Liability matters. We value open communication, shared technical expertise, sound judgment, and a cohesive approach to thoughtful claim handling.

This role provides the opportunity to contribute your experience, learn from knowledgeable colleagues, and continue developing technical coverage, litigation-management, negotiation, and claim-resolution skills. You will collaborate with Claims, Underwriting, insureds, and defense counsel on significant matters and emerging issues.

Our Company and Claims organization embrace technology and practical process improvements that support effective claim handling and collaboration. While this is a remote role, you will remain actively connected to the team through regular communication, knowledge sharing, and shared problem-solving.

Travel to mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, trials, training, or other proceedings may be required, up to approximately 10% of the time.

  • Analyze claim information to assess coverage, liability, damages, litigation posture, and potential exposure to the insured and company.
  • Develop and execute claim-resolution strategies, including negotiation and disposition of claims within delegated authority.
  • Manage defense counsel and litigation activity, including case strategy, budgets, reporting, and significant litigation events.
  • Present significant claims and claim trends to Claims and Underwriting leadership, including coverage considerations, liability assessment, litigation activity, and potential exposure.
  • Provide required reporting to Claims, Underwriting, Reinsurance, and Actuarial business partners for significant-exposure matters.
  • Provide timely reporting on matters proceeding to trial and attend portions of trials when warranted or requested by management.
  • Ensure appropriate referrals, notifications, and timely updates to reinsurers.
  • Contribute technical expertise, training, development, and thought leadership as requested.
  • Perform all responsibilities in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, company policies and procedures, and delegated authority.
