Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) is seeking an experienced Civil CAD Designer to join our Digital Delivery and Civil Production team. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes roadway, drainage, utilities, structural, geotechnical, rail, and is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects throughout the country.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering seamlessly transitions solutions from design to construction through the collaborative efforts of Design Engineering, Design Management, Proposals, Estimating, and Integrated Project Controls. Our construction-focused engineering approach involves a multidisciplinary team working together to maximize value for clients by improving schedules, controlling costs, and minimizing risk on infrastructure projects. This integrated strategy emphasizes collaboration and constructability throughout the project lifecycle, enabling us identify and implement quality solutions with a strong safety focus.

As an in-house resource, we support projects across the company, in all major markets, sharing to experiences, innovative concepts, and best practices. Location

This position will be based out of Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers Lone Tree, CO (South Denver) office.

Responsibilities
• Provides potential solutions to complex issues.
• Reviews the work of designers developing documents as needed for the project.
• Acts as a field resource to assist construction in field resolution on issues.
• Acts independently to utilize industry and company standards to design effectively. No supervision required to apply standard correctly to design.
• Reviews application of standards and can make suggestions on improvements needed
• Serves as a resource to department, projects and construction.
• Identifies changes in scope of work during small to mid-sized projects and produces drawing changes as needed to stay within budget and schedule.
• Balances individual performance requirements with the demands for team participation.
• Performs assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize person productivity.
• Review vendor documentation and comment as it applies to client and project needs.
• Complete as-builts by utilizing Request for Information (RFIs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and red-marked drawings from construction.

Qualifications
• Education: Associate degree in Computer-Aided Design, 3D Modeling, Drafting, Surveying, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in CAD design and plan production for roadway, drainage, and utility projects.
• Civil 3D Expertise: Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Autodesk Civil 3D, with a mastery of:
-Developing and modifying Civil 3D Styles and Label Styles.
-Advanced Pipe and Pressure Networks, including parts library development and modification.
-Surface modeling (Existing and Proposed).
-Complex Alignments, Profiles, and Cross Sections.
-Data Shortcut project management and maintenance.
-Advanced Corridor modeling for civil infrastructure and drainage.
-Sheet Set Manager (SSM) implementation and customization.
• Best Practices: Proven track record of developing Civil 3D workflows and standards for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Cloud Collaboration: Proficiency with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)/BIM 360 for design coordination and data management.
• Software Versatility: Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), InRoads, or Revit is a significant advantage.
• Technical Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with an emphasis on creating collaborative team materials.
-Deep understanding of civil engineering principles, materials, and construction practices for transportation and utility sectors.
-Ability to interpret complex engineering plans, specifications, and design documents.
• Soft Skills & Leadership:
-Quality Control: Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies in design sets.
-Problem Solving: Demonstrated critical thinking and the ability to conceptualize 3D design solutions.
-Communication: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate effectively with engineers, surveyors, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Leadership: Previous experience in a CAD Lead role.
• Experience working with AI agents and tools preferred

Base Compensation: $105,000/yr - $140,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
