Salary: 80,000 - 90,000 / year based on experience

Other Forms of Compensation: Flexible Paid Time Off, Benefits, 401K, Training

Job Summary

The Executive Sous Chef plays a key role in supporting the Executive Chef in the daily management of kitchen operations while maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary environment for all staff. This position oversees and participates in the preparation of meals in accordance with established corporate standards within a 700-bed acute care Kosher facility that includes catering and retail services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Executive Chef to ensure adherence to sanitation standards, ServSafe guidelines, safety protocols, production requirements, and merchandising expectations
  • Lead, train, and motivate back-of-house team members to achieve operational goals and deliver consistent, high-quality service
  • Ensure food is prepared and presented with creativity, consistency, and cost efficiency
  • Support all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, ordering, inventory control, and food production
  • Monitor and help manage food and labor costs while maintaining budget targets
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new culinary programs in collaboration with marketing and culinary teams
  • Provide day-to-day kitchen oversight, ensuring quality, minimizing waste, and managing high-volume production
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, or related field, or an A.O.S. in Culinary Arts, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of progressive culinary experience, including high-volume production leadership
  • Demonstrated expertise across multiple kitchen stations and functions
  • Strong ability to think quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid knowledge of food costing, ingredient identification, and quality standards
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Food safety certification (ServSafe and/or HACCP preferred)
  • Knowledge of current culinary trends and a passion for innovative presentation preferred
  • Experience in a Kosher kitchen and familiarity with kosher cuisine strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of ethnic and regional cuisines a plus
