Full Job Description

TelevisaUnivision Los Angeles is seeking a strong, dynamic, and editorially driven Executive News Producer to help lead the station’s multiplatform news operation. This role is ideal for an experienced newsroom leader with a passion for breaking news, impactful storytelling, daily editorial execution, and audience-focused content across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.

The Executive News Producer will play a key leadership role in overseeing daily news coverage, elevating storytelling and production quality, and helping execute the newsroom’s editorial vision. This position works closely with newsroom leadership, producers, reporters, assignment editors, digital teams, and on-air talent to create compelling and competitive content that reflects the diverse communities of Southern California.

This role also supports the operational and administrative needs of the newsroom, including staffing coordination, schedule management, and daily workflow organization to ensure strong editorial execution across all platforms.

You will report to the Vice President of News.

YOUR DAY-DAY:

• Lead and oversee the editorial execution of daily newscasts and multiplatform news coverage.
• Collaborate with newsroom leadership to help implement newsroom philosophies, editorial priorities, and content strategies.
• Drive compelling storytelling with a focus on breaking news, enterprise reporting, live coverage, and community-focused journalism.
• Coach and mentor producers, reporters, assignment editors, writers, and talent to elevate storytelling, writing, and production quality.
• Work closely with digital, streaming, and social teams to maximize audience reach and multiplatform engagement.
• Lead editorial meetings and help coordinate daily coverage plans across all platforms.
• Monitor audience trends, competitive coverage, and content performance to help inform editorial decisions.
• Maintain high journalistic, ethical, and production standards across all content.
• Support newsroom operations through schedule planning, staffing coordination, overtime oversight, and vacation management to ensure efficient daily coverage.
• Assist in managing newsroom workflows, special project planning, and key coverage initiatives during major news events and ratings periods.
• Help maintain a collaborative and positive newsroom culture focused on accountability, innovation, and teamwork.
• Must be able to make quick editorial decisions under pressure and perform effectively in deadline-driven situations.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and breaking news situations.

YOU HAVE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field OR equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in broadcast news, including newsroom leadership or supervisory experience in a large market newsroom.
• Strong editorial judgment and experience leading breaking news and multiplatform coverage.
• Experience managing newsroom operations, daily workflows, and production teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
• Strong understanding of digital news gathering, streaming, and social media content strategies.
• Experience with newsroom systems and production tools including iNews and Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of video editing, field production, and postproduction workflows is a plus.
• Ability to motivate, lead, and develop newsroom staff while fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multitask effectively under deadline pressure.
• Los Angeles market knowledge and community awareness are a plus.
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
