Ministry Area: Executive

Location: Chanhassen

Reports to: Senior Pastor

Supervises: Community Care Pastor, Connections Director, Worship Experience Director, Pastor of Chapel Worship and Older Adults, Outreach Director, Kids Director, Student Ministries Pastor, Bush Lake Campus Pastor, Westonka Campus Pastor, Senior Human Resources Manager.

Role:

The Executive Pastor of Ministry is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of ministry staff, to accomplish the church's mission. This includes campuses, outreach, worship, care, kids, students, connections, groups, formation, people, and strategy.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a Pastor at-large of Westwood Community Church participating in, but not limited to, staff meetings, retreats, and all church functions, pastoral care and counsel, teaching, officiating church ordinance as assigned, weddings, and funerals
  • Provide teaching ministry at the invitation of the Senior Pastor or in other venues as appropriate and approved
  • Participate in the Pastor-on-Call rotation
  • Support the Senior Pastor in accomplishing the church's mission through catalyzing ministry effectiveness, wise and measured decision-making, thoughtful strategic planning, and setting overall direction of the church staff
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations as needed and appropriate
  • Lead the ministry staff to effectively reach and accomplish the church's vision and ministry goals
  • Ensure the operational integrity, continuity, and readiness of the church through leadership and oversight of the support staff
  • Facilitate the annual strategic planning process, including evaluation of staff effectiveness and performance; review of mission, vision, and core values; develop key objectives and tactics; and establish annual church goals with Leadership Board
  • Establish and update a ministry report and scorecard that provide the Senior Pastor, Leadership Board, and church staff with ongoing visibility of the effectiveness of all functional areas of the church
  • Lead ministry staff in developing annual budgeting plans that fund the effective accomplishment of the strategic ministry plan
  • Lead church, community, and ministry partnership efforts, including developing an incarnational strategy, networking with other leaders, and making a positive impact for Westwood's reputation here, near, and far
  • Champion the development of staff, infrastructure, and innovation by all ministries and support areas that support the healthy, long-term growth of the church.
  • Lead the church's growth and development efforts in partnership with Senior Pastor, including capital fundraising campaigns, master planning, project management, donor development, church multiplication, and other Kingdom impact work
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Meet biblical qualification for Pastoral Leadership (1 Tim. 3) / strong biblical foundation for wise leadership

  • Ability to interface with local and regional community leaders
  • Ability to engage with donor development as requested
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally

$115,000-$135,000/year
