OverviewResearches, markets, underwrites, prices and coordinates issuance of new large, loss-sensitive accounts (premium >$350k.) Acts as liason between the company and agents to promote the development and production of profitable business. Develops and executes strategies to acquire and service new large account business opportunities. Acts as a subject matter expert in Large Accounts. Coaches and mentors less experienced peers. Participates in and leads special projects and initiatives. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Develop, modify, and promote effective marketing strategies for the company's large account services and products. Create new business opportunities by understanding the customer's business and identifying additional product and service offerings. Analyze and evaluate risk exposure. Underwrite and process new large account policies with the highest degree of independence. Apply knowledge and understanding of coverage forms, rating plans, and guidelines in the selection and pricing of individual risks. Ensure adequate pricing through proper classification and documentation, and adherence to company underwriting standards and philosophy.
- Provide expert guidance in strategic planning and implementation of short and long-term goals for large accounts that support the company's business strategies. Recognize trends and patterns in financial data and make sound business decisions and recommendations to positively impact those trends and patterns.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders regarding the survey process of large accounts. Ensure effective utilization of field force including safety management and claims to provide expertise and exceptional service to agents, insureds, and other internal staff members.
- Develop and maintain highly effective working relationships with agents, peers, and management. Partner with team to conduct agency and customer visits across a broad regional geography. Participate at association trade shows, committee meetings, and other organization meetings/events to represent the company's large account unit. Act as a liaison with peers in other regions to obtain and share information with internal and external customers.
- Provide expert guidance in recommending partnerships with new profitable agents and ending the relationship with less profitable agents
- Actively train, coach, and mentor technical support, field personnel, and agency staff on large accounts products, tools, and services. Actively train, coach, and mentor less experienced Large Accounts employees. Provide systems training to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as cross-regional expert in large account and loss sensitive matters; offering proactive guidance and feedback to management and coordinating with peers across regions to identify and implement best practices.
- Participate in or lead projects and initiatives. Actively support continuous improvement by routinely identifying and sharing process improvements.
- Actively research information on competitive intelligence, industry trends and consumer need to ensure competitive advantages with Large Accounts.
- Must be able to drive an automobile to travel within territory. Car travel represents approximately 20% of employee's time.

Education and Experience- College degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of commercial underwriting experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of field underwriting / insurance marketing experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of Large Account specific experience required
- Completion of INS; AU; or completion or pursuit of CIC; or CPCU strongly preferred
