Position Summary
Executive Director of Student Engagement

Enrollment Management and Student Success

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the development and management of an intentional student life experience that positively influences student engagement, campus culture, retention, graduation rates, and enrollment
  • Provides oversight and leadership for Campus Life and Event Services, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Recreation Services
  • Collaborates with individuals and departments across the University to advance student life goals and objectives from a university-wide perspective, including the development of the overall student experience and major campus events
  • Establishes and maintains external relationships and partnerships that enhance the student life experience and creates collaborative opportunities for students
  • Ensures that auxiliary units, including the University Center and Student Recreation Center, provide exemplary service, maintain appropriate facilities, support student needs, and effectively develop and manage their budgets
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports key student engagement metrics and performance indicators to inform strategies that improve student engagement and retention
  • Serves on the Students of Concern Team, the on-call crisis response team, and other University committees as needed
  • Supervises three direct reports, including professional staff and department leaders, and exercises appropriate authority regarding hiring, performance management, personnel actions, and departmental operations
  • Develops and oversees budgets for multiple departments and coordinates facility renovations and physical improvements through established University processes
  • Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services designed to enhance student engagement, belonging, retention, and success

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least five years of successful administrative experience in higher education
  • Experience supervising professional staff
  • Experience leading one or more student affairs departments
  • Experience developing programs and services
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply University policies and procedures
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making
  • Strong troubleshooting, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the flexibility to manage changing priorities
