Position Summary

Yakima Valley College invites applications for the position of Executive Director of the Grandview Campus. This position serves as the lead on-site administrator responsible for the daily leadership, coordination, and operational management of the Grandview Campus.

The Grandview Campus serves as Yakima Valley College's primary educational hub for the Lower Yakima Valley, supporting students from communities including Grandview, Sunnyside, Mabton, and surrounding areas. The campus provides access to academic transfer programs, workforce education opportunities, and student support services designed to promote college access and completion. Through partnerships with regional school districts and community organizations, the campus supports educational pipelines that help students transition successfully from K-12 education into college and career pathways. The campus plays an important role in advancing Yakima Valley College's mission of expanding educational opportunity across the region.

The Executive Director reports to the Vice President of Student Services and Enrollment Management and operates under the Vice President's direction and delegated authority to implement campus operations, support student services and enrollment initiatives, and coordinate instructional and administrative functions at the Grandview Campus.

The Executive Director works collaboratively with Academic Affairs and Administrative Services leadership and other college divisions to ensure the campus advances Yakima Valley College's mission, strategic plan, and student success priorities. The Executive Director also serves as a member of the Senior Council of Student Services and Enrollment Management, the senior leadership group responsible for guiding the division's strategic work related to enrollment, student engagement, and student success across Yakima Valley College.

Scope of Authority and Decision-Making

The Executive Director provides on-site administrative leadership for the Grandview Campus under the strategic direction and delegated authority of the Vice President of Student Services and Enrollment Management. The position exercises decision-making authority related to campus operations, coordination of student services and enrollment support, and resolution of day-to-day administrative matters affecting students, faculty, and staff. The Executive Director collaborates with Academic Affairs Vice President and Deans regarding academic scheduling and program coordination, works with the Assistant Dean of Conduct and Student Engagement on student conduct matters, and coordinates campus safety and incident response in partnership with the College's Safety and Security Department and local law enforcement agencies.

Essential Tasks:
  • Serve as the lead on-site administrator responsible for the daily operations of the Grandview Campus.
  • Provide operational leadership under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services and Enrollment Management.
  • Coordinate campus operations and collaborate with college departments to ensure academic courses delivery, student services, and operational resources support student success.
  • Implement campus initiatives and priorities aligned with Yakima Valley College's mission and strategic plan.
  • Oversee the operational budget and resource allocation for the Grandview Campus in coordination with the Vice President and college departments.
  • Monitor campus operational needs and make recommendations regarding staffing, facilities utilization, and resource planning.
  • Coordinate closely with Facilities Operations to ensure effective maintenance, custodial support, space planning, and timely response to building needs, contributing to a safe, functional, and student ready campus environment.
  • Partner with Technology Services to support reliable classroom technology, network access, and instructional and administrative systems, ensuring campus technology resources meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide leadership in resolving operational issues affecting faculty, staff, and students.
  • Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered campus environment.
Strategic Enrollment and Student Success Leadership
  • Support Yakima Valley College's Strategic Enrollment and Retention Framework and related student success initiatives at the Grandview Campus.
  • Coordinate the delivery of student services including admissions, advising, financial aid, and student engagement initiatives on Grandview Campus.
  • Work collaboratively with enrollment management teams to strengthen recruitment, enrollment, retention, and completion outcomes.
  • Support the implementation of Guided Pathways and student success practices on the Grandview Campus in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Student Success Initiatives.
  • Monitor campus-level trends related to enrollment, access, and persistence and collaborate with the Vice Presidents to address barriers affecting student success.
Academic Affairs Collaboration and Coordination
  • Work collaboratively with instructional deans, faculty leadership, and academic divisions to support academic programming at the Grandview Campus.
  • Coordinate course scheduling, classroom utilization, and program offerings to align with student demand and regional workforce needs.
  • Support the development and expansion of transfer and workforce education opportunities serving students in the Lower Yakima Valley.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between instructional faculty and student services departments.
Regional Strategy, Community Partnerships, and Educational Pipelines
  • Support efforts that position the Grandview Campus as a regional hub for educational access and opportunity in the Lower Yakima Valley.
  • Cultivate and sustain partnerships with school districts, community organizations, local governments, and regional partners.
  • Collaborate with organizations and external partners to strengthen college access, educational attainment, and student success in the region.
  • Promote pathways including Running Start, dual credit opportunities, college readiness initiatives, and financial aid awareness efforts that support transitions from K-12 education to Yakima Valley College.
  • In collaboration with deans, identify opportunities for academic program expansion, workforce education initiatives, and community engagement that support enrollment growth and regional workforce needs.
Student Conduct, Campus Climate, and Safety Coordination
  • Address student conduct concerns that arise at the Grandview Campus and meet with students regarding behavioral expectations, conflict resolution, and campus policies.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Dean of Conduct and Student Engagement to ensure student conduct processes are implemented in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Promote a respectful, safe, and student-centered campus climate that supports accountability and community standards.
  • Serve as the campus point of contact for safety and security matters in coordination with the College's Safety Security Director and local law enforcement agencies, including the Grandview Police Department.
  • Support faculty, staff, and students in responding to safety concerns, incidents, or emergency situations on campus.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness efforts by helping ensure employees understand safety procedures, reporting expectations, and response protocols.
Personnel and Institutional Leadership
  • Provide leadership and supervision for campus staff and coordinate the work of employees assigned to the Grandview Campus.
  • Support professional development and collaboration among campus personnel.
  • Foster a workplace culture that promotes respect, teamwork, and student success.
  • Serve as a member of the Senior Council of Student Services and Enrollment Management.
  • Represent the Grandview Campus on the college's Administrative Council.
  • Participate in institutional planning initiatives and college committees.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and operational functions of staff assigned to the Grandview Campus, and actively engage in learning any unfamiliar areas to ensure effective leadership, guidance, and support.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in education and/or a combination of education and years of experience.
  • Three years of progressively responsible leadership or supervisory experience in higher education or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting student success initiatives and working with diverse student populations.
  • Experience managing budgets, programs, or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and organizational divisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in education, higher education administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a community college environment.
  • Experience with strategic enrollment management or student services leadership.
  • Experience leading or coordinating operations at a branch or satellite campus.
  • Experience working with rural or agricultural communities.
  • Experience building partnerships with school districts and community organizations.
Knowledge Of:
  • Higher education administration, organizational structure, and the operational needs of a multi-function campus
