GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, provides strategic leadership and direction for the development, implementation, and evaluation of elementary curriculum, instructional programs, and professional learning to support division priorities and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
ESSENTIAL TASKS

Strategic Planning
  • Develop and monitor short-and long-term goals to support the school division's strategic plan.
  • Direct the development of elementary curriculum and instructional priorities.
  • Align instructional budgets and financial resources with program goals.
  • Identify emerging instructional needs, areas of focus, and opportunities to advance elementary teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of elementary curriculum, assessment, instructional programs, and initiatives to inform continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
  • Represent the school division on committees, special projects, and regional, state, and national initiatives related to instruction.

Instructional Leadership
  • Lead, supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned staff to ensure effective performance and alignment with division goals.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to coordinators, teachers, parents, and administrators regarding policy, procedures, and the direction of the instructional programs through a systematic approach to coaching, feedback, and job-embedded professional learning.
  • Collaborate with principals, supervisors, chiefs, and other division leaders to address instructional concerns, advance improvements, and develop instructional procedures.
  • Build productive relationships with parents and community members and respond to instructional concerns and issues.
  • Provide leadership and direction for division-wide professional learning and staff development aligned with elementary instructional priorities.
  • Communicate and represent elementary teaching and learning priorities with the School Board and at division instructional functions.
  • Build alignment among schools, departments, and instructional leaders around a shared vision for elementary teaching and learning.

Operational
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and oversee implementation of elementary instructional programs.
  • Oversee the coordination of elementary summer programs, curriculum workshops, and other special programs.
  • Ensure elementary curriculum, assessment, instructional programs, and related practices are implemented in accordance with applicable division policies and state and federal requirements.
  • Prepare and monitor the budget for elementary instructional programs.
  • Oversee the expenditures and accounting of funds for competitive or categorical grants.
  • Perform related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of school administration, curriculum and assessment development, instructional programs and effective teaching and learning practices, strategic planning, and continuous improvement as well as knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and requirements related to curriculum, assessment, and instructional programs. Must have the ability to use data and evidence to evaluate instructional programs and inform decision-making; provide strategic and instructional leadership; lead, develop, and evaluate staff; manage fiscal and organizational resources effectively; lead change and build collaboration across schools and departments; communicate effectively with diverse audiences; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, staff, the School Board, and the public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required: Master's Degree in education, educational leadership, administration, curriculum and instructions, or a related field. Must hold a valid professional license with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision Pre-K-12. Extensive administrative and educational experience, including experience in instructional leadership, curriculum and assessment development and implementation, and supervision of professional staff.

Preferred: Education Specialist (Ed.S.), Certificate of Advanced Study (C.A.S.), or doctoral degree in education, educational leadership, administration, curriculum and instruction, or a related field. Experience providing leadership for elementary teaching and learning at the school and/or central office level.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Frequent sitting, walking, bending, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion, and reaching. Occasional standing, stooping, and driving. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently. Requires timely and regular adherence to established work schedules. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid driver's license.

Salary Range: From/To

Salary range: $112,995-$164,822

Salary will be based on job-related creditable years of full-time, verified work experience. Entry-level salary will be awarded at the time of hire. Upon the return of employment verification forms from the candidate's current and previous employers, the salary will be adjusted if creditable full-time experience is confirmed.
