Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of Dunebrook, providing visionary, strategic, and operational leadership to advance the organization's mission: To advocate for and empower children and families through education, collaboration, and positive support.

The ED is the primary external ambassador of the organization, actively cultivating relationships across all counties within Dunebrook's service footprint and representing the organization with community partners, law enforcement, healthcare systems, funders, and policymakers.

The ED ensures organizational excellence, financial sustainability, programmatic impact, and alignment with Dunebrook's strategic vision.

Key Leadership Responsibilities
  1. Strategic and Visionary Leadership
  • Partner with the Board of Directors and Dunebrook Staff to define and execute a forward-looking strategic plan that expands Dunebrook's reach and impact
  • Lead organizational growth, including program expansion, new initiatives, and long-term sustainability planning
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and trauma-informed care
  • Position Dunebrook as a regional and statewide leader in Child Advocacy, family support, prevention services, and integrated care.


  1. Community Engagement and External Leadership
  • Serve as the visible and active leader within all communities served by Dunebrook
  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships across law enforcement agencies, healthcare systems, schools, social service agencies, government entities, and community organizations
  • Represent Dunebrook in local, regional, statewide, and national coalitions and initiatives
  • Strengthen relationships with funders, donors, and stakeholders to advance mission-driven outcomes
  • Advocate for policies and systems that support children, families, and health equity
  1. Programmatic and Clinical Integration Leadership
  • Oversee a diverse portfolio of nationally accredited, evidence-based programs, including family support, prevention services, and emerging clinical services
  • Ensure excellence in program delivery, outcomes measurement, and continuous quality improvement
  • Ensure compliance with all accreditations, regulatory, and funding requirements
  • Advance medical, dental, and behavioral health integration, including services such as:
    • Insurance navigation (e.g., Covering Kids and Families)
    • In-house therapy services
    • Certified breastfeeding support
    • Pregnancy and Infant Oral Health Education
    • Other initiatives


  1. Financial Stewardship and Resource Development
  • In collaboration with the CFO, lead development and execution of a diversified funding strategy, including grants, contracts, and philanthropic support
  • Oversee financial management, budgeting, and long-term fiscal planning
  • Partner with Board and staff to meet annual fundraising goals and expand donor engagement
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of all organizational assets


  1. Organizational and Operational Leadership
  • Provide leadership and oversight of senior leadership team and organizational structure
  • Build and sustain a high-performing, inclusive, and mission-driven workforce
  • Ensure effective systems across HR, finance, technology, and operations
  • Lead organizational planning to support continued growth, including infrastructure and staffing expansion
  • Promote a culture of psychological safety, professional development, and staff wellbeing


  1. Board Partnership and Governance
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors
  • Support Board development, engagement, and governance excellence
  • Provide regular updates on organizational performance, strategy, and impact
  • Collaborate with Board committees on finance, development, and strategic initiatives


Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience, including senior-level management in a nonprofit, healthcare, or related field
  • Proven experience in organizational leadership, program development, and strategic planning
  • Experience leading multi-site and multi-county service organizations
  • Demonstrated success in fund development, including capitol campaigns, grants, public funding, and donor engagement
  • Experience working with and reporting to the Board of Directors


Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in healthcare, public health, social services, business, or related field
  • Experience with Child Advocacy Centers, maternal/child health, family services, or community-based care models
  • Background in interdisciplinary healthcare collaboration


Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The employee works primarily in a typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues and is required to have the visual ability to view computer terminal, perceiving and transcribing data (keyboarding) with accuracy and understanding written narrative. Communication with telephone callers and associates requires an ability to express oneself as well as perceive and exchange ideas. The employee may be required to ascend and descend stairs or ladders or balance on unstable surfaces while working. Work may include walking long distances and exerting force up to 50 pounds to lift and move objects.

The employee is required to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the organization.
