Full Job Description
Labcorp is seeking an Executive Director, AI Transformation, Office of the CAIO to join our team in Durham, NC.

Work Schedule: Work Schedule: Durham, NC / Hybrid | Full-time | Reports to: Chief AI Officer | Travel: 40-50%

Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead AI-native transformation initiatives across assigned business domains from concept through adoption and value realization.
  • Partner with business, technology, and functional leaders to redesign workflows and operating models using AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Prioritize and execute transformation portfolios based on business value, feasibility, risk, and organizational readiness.
  • Define roadmaps, funding strategies, success metrics, and execution plans for enterprise AI initiatives.
  • Provide product and solution leadership for AI capabilities in partnership with engineering, data, architecture, security, and business teams.
  • Drive build, buy, or partner decisions for AI solutions based on strategic value, economics, risk, and speed to market.
  • Establish standards for AI architecture, evaluation, governance, safety, and production readiness.
  • Ensure AI solutions deliver secure, scalable, and user-centric experiences for employees and customers.
  • Develop and manage business cases, value realization plans, and investment strategies for AI transformation initiatives.
  • Monitor AI adoption, operational performance, and economic outcomes to guide scaling and investment decisions.
  • Lead organizational change management, workforce enablement, and adoption strategies for AI-powered ways of working.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders on workforce transformation, skills development, and role evolution.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, privacy, security, and responsible AI requirements across all AI initiatives.
  • Maintain audit readiness and adherence to applicable industry regulations, frameworks, and governance standards.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for transformation teams, solution architects, program managers, and strategic partners.
  • Contribute to enterprise AI strategy, governance, investment decisions, and cross-functional leadership initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across the AI organization.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 15 or more years in technology, digital, AI, data, enterprise strategy, transformation, or operations leadership, with a track record of delivering measurable business results at scale
  • 5 or more years of direct experience leading enterprise transformation programs from strategy through adoption and value realization, including redesigning workflows and operating models.
  • 5 or more years of Deep operator experience in one or more of the following domains: Contact Center and customer service operations, Revenue Cycle Management, Accessioning and specimen intake, Laboratory operations, Sales and Commercial operations, Finance operations, Clinical Trials and BioPharma operations, or Quality, Compliance, and Regulatory operations.
  • 5 or more years of experience leading multi-disciplinary teams that combine transformation, AI, product, engineering, and business expertise.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of technical, business, and enterprise transformation leadership experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience in healthcare, diagnostics, life sciences, pharmaceutical, payer, provider, or other highly regulated industries.
  • 5 or more years of experience partnering directly with senior executives and supporting C-suite leadership, including preparation for executive committee, board, investor, strategic partner, or other high-profile leadership engagements
  • 5 or more years of experience driving enterprise AI adoption through Centers of Excellence, operating models, innovation programs, or transformation initiatives
  • 5 or more years of experience partnering with Finance, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, and Risk functions to establish governance frameworks, value realization, risk management, and regulatory readiness practices.

Additional Job Standards
  • Deep AI expertise across modern AI architectures, covering generative AI, agentic systems, retrieval and knowledge systems, evaluation and safety discipline, and production AI operations at Fortune 500 scale.
  • Recognized thought leadership in AI, digital transformation, or enterprise technology through industry speaking engagements, publications, advisory boards, or professional organizations.
  • Active and defensible point of view on the foundation model landscape, including the trade-offs across capability, cost, latency, safety posture, and deployment model. Labcorp remains model-agnostic and selects the best model for the workload. This leader is expected to shape that selection with strategic cloud partners.
  • Working command of modern enterprise AI platforms, developer AI environments, enterprise AI assistants, and enterprise agentic platforms, with the operating knowledge required to evaluate, roll out, and govern these systems.
  • Strong financial discipline across business cases, investment decisions, benefit tracking, and value realization, with the ability to partner credibly with Finance so value claims and realized-value reporting stand up to scrutiny.
  • Experience partnering with Legal, Privacy, Security, Compliance, and Responsible AI leadership to move AI safely into production in a regulated environment.
  • Ability to see the full operating system: workflow, data, controls, incentives, economics, handoffs, and adoption barriers.
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication, with the ability to write board-ready narratives, investment cases, decision memos, and crisp escalation notes.
  • Credibility with senior executives and senior technologists, with the judgment to influence decisions without relying on hierarchy and the maturity to handle confidential information and executive dynamics.
  • High personal standard for outcomes; stays with the work until value is realized.
