Responsibilities & Qualifications

Novelis is seeking an Executive Compensation Lead to serve as the company's subject matter authority for executive compensation and long-term incentives. This highly visible role sits at the center of some of the organization's most strategic talent, governance, and compensation decisions, partnering with senior executives, the Compensation Committee, Board partners, Finance, Legal, HR, and external advisors.

Responsibilities

  • Determine how Novelis rewards performance, retains top leadership talent, aligns executive interests with shareholders, and drives long-term business success.
  • As the lead authority on executive compensation, you'll guide the programs, analyses, governance activities, and recommendations that support Novelis' senior leadership population.
  • Partner directly with senior leaders and HR executives on high-impact compensation decisions
  • Develop compelling, executive-ready analyses and recommendations for leadership, the Compensation Committee, and the Board of Directors
  • Lead executive compensation planning, administration, and governance activities
  • Evaluate market competitiveness through executive benchmarking and peer-group analysis
  • Support executive employment arrangements, special awards, incentive programs, retention strategies, and separation-related compensation matters
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and external advisors on governance, compliance, market practices, and emerging compensation trends
  • Lead annual and off-cycle equity award activities
  • Lead all aspects of grants, vestings, performance units, exercises, payouts, participant eligibility, and sophisticated employee events
  • Define the operating model between Global Compensation, shared services, vendors, and partners
  • Develop controls, governance processes, critical issue pathways, and service standards
  • Translate business results and performance outcomes into accurate participant awards and communications
  • Drive process improvements, system enhancements, operational perfection, and risk mitigation
  • Serve as the go-to guide for complex participant, tax, payroll, retirement, and termination scenarios

Minimum qualifications

  • 5-10+ years of dynamic compensation experience
  • Significant experience supporting executive compensation, long-term incentives, equity programs, or global compensation initiatives
  • Experience partnering with executives and senior business leaders
  • Exposure to Compensation Committee, Board, governance, or public-company compensation activities strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel and data analytics capabilities
  • Strong financial and quantitative proficiency
  • Ability to build models, reconcile complex data, and identify meaningful insights
  • Experience working with compensation systems, HR systems, and compensation planning tools
  • Exceptional ability to lead through expertise rather than authority
  • Strong consulting, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills
  • Proven ability to coordinate across HR, Finance, Legal, Payroll, HRIS, Mobility, vendors, and shared services
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate technical compensation, legal, financial, tax, and regulatory concepts into clear business recommendations
  • Confidence presenting to senior leaders and executive audiences
