Executive Assistant to the CEO

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, proactive, and strategically minded Executive Assistant to partner directly with our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in Arlington, VA. This role requires a trusted advisor who can operate seamlessly at the intersection of business, government, and national security

In this highly visible role, you will serve as an extension of the CEO, ensuring the effective execution of priorities, anticipating challenges, and maintaining situational awareness across the organization and external landscape. The ideal candidate thrives in fast paced, high stakes environments, exercises exceptional judgment and discretion, and understands the unique dynamics of operating within the Washington D.C. national security and political ecosystem

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Support: Serve as a trusted partner to the CEO by managing priorities, anticipating needs, and ensuring alignment across internal and external commitments
  • Calendar & Travel Management: Maintain a forward-looking view of the CEO’s calendar and lead the planning and execution of complex domestic and international travel, ensuring seamless coordination of itineraries, logistics, security considerations, protocol requirements, documentation, and expenses. Anticipate changes in priorities, proactively manage travel disruptions, and ensure alignment with critical internal and external engagements while preparing and submitting expense reports with precision
  • Executive Prioritization and Stakeholder Engagement: Optimize the CEO’s time and focus by managing competing priorities and facilitating effective engagement with senior government officials, military leaders, policymakers, industry partners, and key internal stakeholders with professionalism, discretion, and situational awareness
  • Executive Communications and Briefing Preparation: Draft and manage executive communications and prepare high-quality briefings, background materials, and talking points for key engagements
  • Operational and Situational Awareness: Stay closely aligned with leadership activities and external developments to ensure the CEO is informed, prepared, and positioned ahead of emerging priorities
  • Business and Industry Acumen: Develop a strong understanding of company operations and monitor press releases, earnings, and geopolitical developments to anticipate impacts on the CEO agenda
  • Decision Support and Problem Solving: Provide real-time support by synthesizing information, tracking key initiatives, and proactively identifying risks and solutions
  • Responsiveness and Availability: Operate with a high level of responsiveness and flexibility, serving as a reliable point of contact for urgent matters and time-sensitive matters

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field; equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of experience supporting C-Suite executives in a corporate environment, preferably within defense, national security, government, or similarly regulated industries
  • Proven ability to operate in high pressure, high visibility roles requiring strong discretion and judgment
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex calendars, competing priorities, global travel, and executive logistics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with executives and cross-functional teams
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to build relationships with senior leaders and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional attention to detail and sound professional judgment
  • Proven ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Proactive, resourceful, and solutions-oriented with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the Washington D.C. landscape including government, defense, and policy environments
  • Familiarity with security protocols including clearances, handling sensitive information, and secure environments such as SCIFs
  • Experience supporting executives in national security, defense, intelligence, or government contracting sectors
  • Demonstrated interest in global affairs, defense policy, and geopolitical dynamics
  • Experience working with senior military or government leaders
  • Experience working in a global or complex corporate environment
  • Experience with Concur, SharePoint, SAP, Deltek Costpoint, or similar enterprise systems
  • Experience coordinating executive-level events, leadership offsites, or board meetings

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation.
