Exec Dir Early Pipeline Comercialization Bayer is seeking a strategic, commercially driven leader to join the organization as Executive Director, Oncology Pipeline Commercial Strategy Lead. This role will lead commercial strategy development across Bayer's oncology pipeline, spanning early-, mid-, and late-stage assets. The successful candidate will help shape differentiated asset strategies, inform portfolio choices, and strengthen launch readiness to support Bayer's long-term oncology growth ambitions. This leader will bring deep oncology expertise, strong executive presence, and the ability to influence effectively across a complex, matrixed environment. YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of this role, Executive Director Early Pipeline Commercialization are to: • Lead the development of integrated commercial strategies for oncology pipeline assets across early, mid, and late stages of development. Lead commercial assessment of partnering opportunities; • Provide strategic commercial input on disease area opportunity, competitive landscape, unmet need, treatment paradigm evolution, patient journey, and market access considerations; • Partner closely with R&D, BD&L medical affairs, market access, finance, business development, and regional and local commercial teams to shape development and commercialization plans; • Inform key governance decisions through robust commercial assessments, including indication prioritization, lifecycle strategy, portfolio trade-offs, and investment decisions; • Define target product profiles, strategic positioning, segmentation approaches, and value proposition frameworks for pipeline assets; • Guide insight generation, market research, forecasting assumptions, scenario planning, and opportunity sizing; • Ensure commercial perspectives are embedded in milestone decisions from early development through pre-launch planning; • Support development of launch strategies and launch readiness plans, including market shaping, stakeholder engagement, access strategy, and organizational preparedness; • Drive portfolio prioritization discussions by evaluating commercial attractiveness, strategic fit, competitive intensity, and execution feasibility; • Identify strategic risks and opportunities and recommend actions to optimize future asset value. Therapeutic Area Expertise The ideal candidate will bring strong oncology therapeutic area expertise, including a demonstrated understanding of: • Oncology treatment paradigms and evolving standards of care; • Biomarker-driven and precision medicine approaches; • Solid tumors market dynamics;; • Clinical development and commercialization considerations across the oncology lifecycle • Stakeholder needs across providers, patients, payers, and health systems;; • Competitive intelligence and market access dynamics relevant to oncology Working relations: Global • Global commercial, medical, clinical development, market access, and portfolio teams; • Regional and local market leaders; • Forecasting, analytics, finance, regulatory, insights, and operations functions; • Senior governance and portfolio review bodies. WHO YOU ARE Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree required e.g. in business, life sciences, healthcare, pharmacy, public health, medicine, or a related field required; • Significant experience in the biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry in commercial strategy, new product planning, pipeline strategy, portfolio strategy, marketing, consulting, or related functions; • Meaningful experience in oncology; • Proven success developing commercial strategies for pipeline and/or inline oncology assets; • Strong understanding of drug development, commercialization planning, launch strategy, and market access; • Experience working in complex, matrixed organizations with global and cross-regional stakeholders; • Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities; • Excellent communication skills, executive presence, and stakeholder management ability; • Demonstrated team leadership and/or success leading through influence at senior levels; • Build, coach, and develop high-performing talent; • Set clear priorities and elevate strategic thinking across the team; • Foster an inclusive environment that welcomes diverse perspectives and constructive challenge; • Mentor team members and strengthen organizational capability in oncology pipeline commercial strategy; • Lead effectively through influence across functions, markets, and seniority levels; • Strategic and enterprise mindset; • Strong business acumen and sound judgment; • Learning agility and comfort operating in ambiguity; • Highly collaborative and effective in matrixed environments; • Data-driven and analytically rigorous; • Decisive, proactive, and execution-oriented; • Strong people leadership and talent development capability; • Clear, persuasive communicator; • High integrity, accountability, and professionalism; • Commitment to patient impact and scientific innovation. Preferred Qualifications: • Advanced degree such as MBA, MPH, PharmD, PhD, MD, or other relevant graduate degree; • Experience in oncology new product planning, global marketing, or portfolio management; • Experience supporting or leading pre-launch and launch readiness for oncology products; • Exposure to both US and global oncology markets; • Experience in biomarker-driven, precision oncology, or specialty care markets; • Combination of industry and top-tier consulting and/or strategic planning experience. Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $220,240 to $330,360. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..
