Full Job Description
Position Summary:

An Senior EWP Plans Services Team assists in providing leadership and guidance to the Plan Services Team. He/she also provides administrative and technical support to BlueLinx customers by generating framing layouts and material lists utilizing BlueLinx Engineered Wood Products (EWP). This position will work under the supervision of the Plan Services Manager.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities:

Senior designer who oversees other designers, by mentoring, reviewing their work, and assisting in evaluating their performance.

Be responsible for final plan checks of the designers under their oversight

Assist in coordination of daily plan scheduling.

Efficiently use design software to create accurate, economical framing layouts and material lists for projects of any complexity to support sales of BlueLinx EWP to our customers.

Work directly with branch EWP managers/designers, dealers, builders, architects, engineers and building officials

Use problem solving skills to recommend solutions to architectural/structural design issues

Lead/assist in software training and general customer support

Perform other work-related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changing needs.

Education/Experience and Skills Upon Hire:

Associates degree in CAD or construction technology preferred. Degree in Structural, Architectural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or Technology a plus.

6 + years of EWP experience

Training in and/or demonstrable advanced skills using engineered lumber CAD design software

Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings (floor plans, elevations, building sections, and details)

Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts in written, illustrative, and verbal format

Ability to balance multiple projects

Possess a strong sense of urgency for team and personal goal achievement, self-driven

Exhibits strong desire to learn by asking questions and self-study

Detail-oriented with ability to handle details quickly, accurately, and efficiently

Proficient in MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Must demonstrate advanced proficiency in, and the ability to instruct in the following areas:

Blueprint reading and interpretation

Load development/tracking

Sizing individual joists and beams using isDesign software

Advanced isPlan design software usage

In depth understanding of BlueLinx EWP, installation details, and construction practices

Good understanding of building code requirements for wood construction

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate based on the position requirements and market data. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
