Job Description

The Security Operations and Event Monitoring Center (SOEMC) is an industry leading operations center that plays a vital role in keeping AEP safe and compliant. Responsible for shift performance while on site. Ensure alarms, emails, and phone calls are being handled in a timely manner. Provide direction and answer Event Monitoring Reps' questions. Assists in programming security devices to help mitigate false alarms and nuisance signals. Backs up Security Manager with matters related to the SOEMC and AEP Security. Directs security assignments on shift and trains operators. Ensures that all team members receive training and/or develop themselves in skill areas that support security innovation. Prioritize and direct area work activities and optimize utilization of resources.

"Must be available to work any assigned shift in a 24-hour operations center."

What You'll Do:
  • Responsible for the shift work on respective shift and ensure operators are trained in all functions of an Event Monitoring Center Operator and ensure all desks and shifts are properly filled, and minimum staffing levels are met.
  • Help with programming and procedure issues within the SOEMC PSIM.
  • Audit alarm incidents and phones calls to evaluate operator performance.
  • Troubleshoot security systems and provide technician support where needed.
  • Shift Leads are responsible for training and onboarding new employees.
  • Provide oversight to other operators and terminals to ensure standards are being met.
  • Coach and follow-up on SOEMC Reps daily work and ensure all process and procedures are being followed on the shift.
  • May be asked to serve as the lead trainer for the SOEMC Training Academy.


Other Requirements:
  • Rotating shift work, need to be available to work multiple shifts and help cover SOEMC desks when needed. Must have good data entry/typing skills.
  • Must be available for overnight coverage and may be required to work weekends as business needs dictate. While the current schedule is expected to be overnight shifts during the week, shift assignments may change in the future based on operational needs.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an associate's degree with 2 years of relevant work experience, or a High School diploma / GED with 4 years of relevant work experience.


Work Experience requirement listed below:
  • In addition to any experience required above, 4 years of security, law enforcement, military, dispatching, or related work experience is required. Licenses/Certifications: Lenel OnGuard, Southwest Microwave preferred.

$87,633.00 - $109,543.00
