Position Summary

The Tech Ops Occupational Health & Safety Evaluator supports the planning, drafting, implementation and assessment of occupational health and safety programs and processes in accordance with regulatory guidance and JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS). The Occupational Health & Safety Evaluator monitors and reports on the implementation of strategies, initiatives and best practices, as directed by the Manager, Tech Ops Safety Programs & SMS, and will play a role in incident investigations and subsequent mitigation strategies.

Essential Responsibilities

Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), etc. regulations with emphasis on cities with Hangars.
Participate in the strategic planning of safety initiatives to include: new or changed premises, arrangements, work processes/methods, working methods and/or work organization, and in other planning which is significant from a work environment perspective
Supports and leads 5S/6S initiatives for Line Maintenance focusing on Hangar cities with an emphasis on CI (Continuous Improvement) methodology
Manages Tech Ops Safety related Aviation Quality Database (AQD) data, and Tech Ops Safety internal databases
Be a safety resource/ambassador for fellow crewmembers by conducting Safety Briefings, providing training and addressing crewmember safety concerns in a timely and professional manner
Supports evaluation of the impact of emerging issues, regulations and legislation for site operations and provides feedback to Manager, Tech Ops Safety Programs & SMS
Manage Safety Data Sheet program to include: review, assess and management of new products
Supports the change management process for changes occurring within Tech Ops and external teams
Serves as lead investigator for Tech Ops occupational injuries, ground damage and maintenance-related inflight events
Analyzes data from events, self-assessments, inspections and audits to identify trends and recommend corrective actions
Conducts root cause analysis, risk mitigation strategies and corrective action development to improve operational safety performance
Other duties as assigned

Crewmember Expectations:

Regular attendance and punctuality
Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue's Safety Management System
Promote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
Uphold JetBlue's safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Physical Effort:

Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to fifty (50) pounds frequently and/or seventy to one hundred (70-100) pounds occasionally with the assistance of other people or tools and be in a position where bending, crouching, kneeling, etc. is needed.

Compensation:

The base pay range for this position is between $67,000.00 and $101,000.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Health or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous related work experience
Two (2) years prior related work experience
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Must be able to travel to multiple locations and jobsites (50%)
Must be in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
Must be able to adhere to JetBlue Uniform Policy Manual Standards
Able to travel and/or work variable hours, flexible shifts, including holidays and weekends
Experience implementing or managing an occupational health and safety management system
Able to perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints
Able to work in all types of weather conditions
Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways insurance standards
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

Experience in Aviation Quality Database (AQD) or other aviation operations related programs
Proficient in SharePoint, InfoPath, and any other data visualization tools
Must able to communicate effectively to large groups, and to all levels of management and various departments
Three (3) years' experience in the airline industry
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license
Occupational Safety & Aircraft accident investigation training and experience
