  • Estimator - Natural Gas & Energy

  • Location: Atlanta, GA or Naperville, IL
    Employment Type: Full-Time

    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our growing Energy team, supporting the delivery of complex natural gas, pipeline, utility, and energy infrastructure projects. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates throughout all phases of project development, from conceptual budgeting through detailed bid submissions.

    Working closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and clients, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project planning, cost certainty, and successful project delivery.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cost estimates for natural gas and energy infrastructure projects.
    • Review drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and bid packages to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
    • Perform quantity take-offs for civil, mechanical, structural, piping, electrical, and instrumentation scopes.
    • Develop labour, equipment, subcontractor, and material cost estimates using current market pricing.
    • Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
    • Prepare bid documentation, pricing summaries, clarifications, and proposal deliverables.
    • Identify project risks, assumptions, exclusions, and opportunities during the estimating process.
    • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls teams to validate estimate accuracy.
    • Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and productivity benchmarks.
    • Support value engineering initiatives and cost optimisation strategies.
    • Participate in estimate reviews with internal leadership and clients.
    • Assist with change order pricing and project cost forecasting when required.
  • Who we're looking for:

    Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

    • 3+ years of estimating experience within industrial, utility, or energy construction.
    • Experience estimating natural gas, pipeline, compressor station, LNG, utility, or energy infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
    • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, labour productivity, and sequencing.
    • Experience performing quantity take-offs from engineering drawings.
    • Knowledge of procurement processes and subcontractor pricing.
    • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.


    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline preferred.
