Jacob Bros is now hiring a
Buildings Estimator to provide cost estimates for institutional, commercial, industrial and residential projects.
Please note this position is 100% office based.
Responsibilities:- Prepares estimates for projects by analyzing specifications, proposals, and other relevant documentation, ensuring accuracy throughout the full-cycle bid process.
- Assists in developing bid strategies for competitive tender projects, providing technical input on project and contract risks.
- Accurately determines scopes of work and conceptual estimates by drawing on experience, reviewing proposal specifications, and attending pre-bid meetings.
- Calculates complete takeoff of scopes of work, including material quantity requirements from drawings.
- Assists in reviewing final estimates to ensure alignment with project schedules and cost goals.
- Assists with design review options and recommends the best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.
- Works with a team to develop value engineering options for clients.
- Assists the proposal department with key technical project information so that proposals and submissions can be completed on time.
- Maintains and develops strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required.
- 5+ years estimating experience in the industrial, commercial and institutional construction industry.
- Advanced knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software, familiarity with CAD, Bluebeam and MS Project Suite.
- Advanced knowledge of local construction materials and techniques.
- Demonstrated history of successful bid results in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment.
- Must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada.
