Full Job Description

We are seeking a talented individual to join ourInvestment Research team atMercer, a Marsh business. This role will be based inChicago or Boston. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As an Equity Research Specialist, you will be part of Mercer9s global team of approximately 40 equity research specialists spread across 9 countries, working collaboratively with other members on the team, interact with asset managers, and support investment consultants with the goal of bringing equity managers to clients globally. You9ll have the opportunity to synthesize Mercer9s view through a forward looking research report that articulates why Mercer believes a manager9s strategy will outperform its respective benchmark over a full market cycle.

We will count on you to:

  • Proactively lead interviews with portfolio management teams and business leaders

  • Gather and analyze information in order to identify and communicate asset managers that Mercer believes are most likely able to generate value for clients

  • Provide insights and advice to clients and consultants on a wide variety of equity investment strategies (e.g., US & Non-US) equity investment strategies, including how the products can enhance a client9s existing plan

  • Present Mercer9s views on how to build effective exposures to equity structures, including how specific managers can enhance a client9s return/risk profile as well as how best to achieve this result through the selection of individual equity strategies

  • Extend Mercer9s thought leadership in the industry by presenting Mercer9s views at internal and external conferences

  • Where applicable, provide mentoring and support to the broader equity research team

  • Contribute to post meeting discussions covering key issues and recommended manager ratings

  • Provide ad hoc support to consultants in preparing for internal and external research meetings

  • Assist in the preparation for direct client discussions on managers/strategies

What you need to have:

  • BA/BS degree in finance, economics, or other business-related areas having strong quantitative and analytical analysis

  • 5-10 years of fund research/manager due diligence experience

  • Intellectual curiosity, tenacity and willingness to take on new opportunities

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities and work in a rapidly changing environment

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Office
