LocationThe role is based in Schroders' New York Office, but supported with all the tools necessary to work remotely when required.
The teamThe US Small and Mid Cap Team is comprised of five senior investment analysts that cover three different strategies across the spectrum of Small, SMID and Mid Cap stocks. The team manages approximately $7.5 billion with the capacity to run more than $15 billion.
The team's investment philosophy is anchored in quality first, with a focus on inflecting fundamentals and rising returns. A valuation discipline is critical in assessing downside risk, as is an understanding of making recommendations with less than perfect information.
With a focus on the financial metrics that drive returns, the portfolio allocates investments across three "alpha sources", mispriced growth, steady eddies, and turnarounds.
What you'll do- Our analysts are the primary source of idea generation for team portfolios. You will conduct bottom-up fundamental stock selection, driven by proprietary research;
- Work closely with the Portfolio Manager and Head of Research to identify the best opportunities to outperform the Industrials Sector.
- Investment recommendations will be assessed relative to the Industrials universe across the different strategy benchmarks (Russell Small, SMID and Mid Cap benchmarks).
- Present stock recommendations and investment packs to the Portfolio Manager and Head of Research and actively discuss weightings in each name within the Industrials Sector.
- Summary: This position is an integral part of the Small Cap Team to cover the Industrials sector within the Small and Small/Mid Cap Portfolios. This position will be involved in all stages of the investment process from sourcing opportunities, analyzing investments for inclusion in the portfolio and assisting portfolio manager in committing capital.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that you need - A minimum of 10 years in the Financial industry, with a minimum of 5 years covering Industrials
- A thorough grounding in fundamental stock analysis, financial modelling, and the Small and Mid-Cap Industrial sector.
- A detailed knowledge of stocks within Industrial sectors with a thorough perspective on the factors that outperform across different parts of the market and economic cycle;

- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and advocacy skills such that they can make and present a compelling case for, or against, the inclusion of stocks in the portfolios.
CompensationSchroders offers a base salary in a range of $200,000 to $240,000 for this position.
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
