Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY

Location: Full-time, in office at either our Prineville, Oregon or Bentonville, Arkansas locations with 25-50% travel to various project sites.

Hodge Western Corp is seeking an experienced Equipment Manager to oversee a large and diverse fleet of heavy construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and support assets operating across multiple states. This position is responsible for maximizing equipment availability, reliability, utilization, and lifecycle value while supporting field operations with safe, efficient, and cost-effective equipment solutions.

The Equipment Manager will work closely with operations, project management, superintendents, mechanics, and vendors to ensure equipment is properly maintained, transported, repaired, and deployed to meet project demands.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fleet and Equipment Management
  • Manage the company's fleet of heavy construction equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, rock trenchers, directional drills, trucks, and trailers.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and service life.
  • Oversee equipment inspections, maintenance schedules, repairs, and warranty programs.
  • Monitor equipment utilization and identify opportunities to improve fleet efficiency and asset performance.
  • Coordinate equipment allocation and deployment to projects based on operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate equipment records, including maintenance histories, inspections, registrations, titles, and ownership documentation.
  • Establish and monitor equipment performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Transportation and Logistics
  • Coordinate movement of equipment between projects and maintenance facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT requirements for equipment transportation and hauling operations.
  • Assist with permitting and logistics for oversized and overweight loads.
  • Work closely with project teams to forecast equipment needs and mobilization schedules.

Budgeting and Cost Control
  • Develop and manage annual fleet maintenance and capital equipment budgets.
  • Monitor equipment ownership and operating costs.
  • Analyze repair-versus-replacement decisions.
  • Track fuel, maintenance, rental, and transportation expenses.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce operating costs and improve equipment return on investment.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years of experience managing heavy construction equipment fleets.
  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment maintenance, diagnostics, repair practices, and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Experience with construction equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, trenchers, directional drills, trucks, and trailers.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and equipment compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze equipment utilization, maintenance trends, and operating costs.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Annual salary: $120,000 - $135,000, depending on experience
