Full Job Description
La Rinconada Country Club is seeking an eager and self-motivated Equipment Manager to lead its golf course equipment operation. This individual will oversee equipment maintenance, repairs, shop organization, and preventative maintenance while working closely with the Grounds Maintenance leadership team.

With a new maintenance facility under construction, a full 18-hole renovation underway, and significant equipment investment planned, this is an opportunity to help establish the systems and standards of a growing operation.

The club is open to both experienced Equipment Managers and Assistant Equipment Managers ready to take the next step. We are seeking a proactive, organized, accountable professional who takes ownership and is committed to continuous improvement.

Club Highlights
  • Annual Golf Rounds: Approximately 33,000
  • Grounds Maintenance Staff: 15 full-time employees, with plans to add six additional team members by the end of the year
  • Typical Schedule:
    • 5:30 AM-2:00 PM Monday-Friday once the new facility is complete; current schedule is 7:00 AM start
    • Extended hours during aeration weeks
  • Turf Types:
    • Tahoma 31 Bermuda grass tees, fairways, approaches and collars
    • Tall Fescue/Ryegrass/Kentucky Bluegrass roughs
    • Fine fescue in select bunker areas; native areas
  • Irrigation System: Rain Bird Cirrus Pro
  • Equipment: Baroness equipment throughout the grow-in, with new equipment scheduled to arrive over the next 18 months.

The Equipment Manager will be expected to manage the shop as their own entity, taking responsibility for the equipment, facility, organization, workflow and yard. We're willing to sacrifice some experience for the right person who brings the drive, attitude and desire to build something.

Initial Priorities of the Position

The immediate priority will be to organize and establish an efficient workflow for the equipment operation.

The new maintenance facility is currently under construction and is projected to be completed this winter. Until then, the department is operating out of the cart barn, where the equipment necessary to maintain the property is currently housed.

The Equipment Manager will have the opportunity to:
  • Establish an organized workflow within the temporary facility
  • Prepare for the transition into the new maintenance facility
  • Develop shop organization and operating systems
  • Establish preventative maintenance procedures
  • Take ownership of the equipment fleet and equipment yard
  • Build processes that can scale as the department and equipment fleet grow

This position will play an important role in determining how the new facility operates for years to come.

Key Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills & Aptitude
  • Inspect, diagnose, prioritize, repair and service golf course equipment.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programs.
  • Organize and maintain an efficient, professional equipment shop and yard.
  • Establish effective systems for equipment scheduling, service, repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform field repairs and routinely inspect equipment during operation.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and operated safely.
  • Promote and enforce safe operating practices throughout the Grounds Maintenance department.
  • Communicate effectively with the Director, Assistant Superintendents and Grounds Maintenance team.
  • Participate in daily planning and collaborate with the management team.
  • Take ownership of equipment-related decisions and communicate needs proactively.
  • Manage parts, supplies and shop inventory.
  • Assist with equipment purchasing, specifications and fleet planning.
  • Support the continued integration of new equipment and technology into the operation.
  • Help guide the department through significant equipment upgrades associated with the ongoing golf course renovation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and professional work environment.
  • Prepare to mentor and help develop an Assistant Mechanic as the department grows.
  • Continue developing professional knowledge through education, training and industry resources.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of experience working with golf course maintenance equipment preferred.
  • Previous Equipment Manager or Assistant Equipment Manager experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Technical, mechanical or equipment-related certificate preferred.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Experience developing or maintaining preventative maintenance programs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Grounds Maintenance leadership team.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment, technology and systems.
