This team ensures that equipment, trucks, materials, and resources are in the right place, at the right time, and at the right cost to support project execution. We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager with a strong logistics and heavy-equipment transportation background to lead equipment deployment, dispatch, utilization, vendor coordination, transportation planning, and fleet operations across multiple active construction projects.
Summary:

The Equipment Fleet Manager - Logistics & Operations is responsible for leading the logistical planning, coordination, deployment, transportation, utilization, and operational support of LEMOINE's company-owned and rented equipment fleet.

This position serves as the central connection between the Equipment Department, project teams, Superintendents, Project Managers, equipment vendors, rental companies, heavy-haul transportation providers, mechanics, and field personnel. The Fleet Manager is responsible for ensuring equipment moves safely and efficiently between projects while maintaining visibility into equipment availability, utilization, transportation schedules, rental duration, maintenance needs, and operational costs.

A major focus of this position is fleet logistics-planning equipment movements, coordinating heavy-haul transportation, managing dispatch activities, anticipating project equipment needs, reducing unnecessary equipment moves and rental costs, and ensuring project teams receive the equipment necessary to maintain production.

The ideal candidate combines strong construction-equipment knowledge with logistics, dispatch, vendor-management, financial, and leadership experience.
Responsibilities:
Fleet Logistics & Equipment Deployment
  • Lead the planning and coordination of equipment movement across multiple active Infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and manage daily and weekly equipment dispatch schedules based on project priorities, equipment availability, and field-production needs.
  • Coordinate the mobilization, demobilization, transfer, delivery, and pickup of company-owned and rented equipment.
  • Manage logistics for the transportation of heavy and oversized construction equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, articulated trucks, cranes, rollers, and specialized equipment.
  • Coordinate with heavy-haul trucking companies, internal drivers, rental vendors, and field leadership to ensure equipment arrives safely and on schedule.
  • Determine the most efficient method for moving equipment between projects while considering transportation cost, distance, equipment availability, project schedule, and operational urgency.
  • Maintain visibility of fleet availability and upcoming project demands to proactively plan equipment movements.
  • Coordinate permits, routing, escorts, transportation requirements, and other logistical considerations associated with oversized or overweight equipment movements when applicable.
  • Reduce unnecessary equipment transfers, transportation expenses, idle time, and rental days through proactive logistics planning.
  • Respond to emergency or time-sensitive equipment needs and coordinate solutions that minimize disruption to project operations.
Dispatch & Fleet Coordination
  • Oversee equipment dispatch operations and maintain an accurate fleet-dispatch system.
  • Monitor and track company-owned and rented equipment using Fleetwatcher, GPS, telematics, and other fleet-management systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment location, availability, assignment, utilization, and movement.
  • Review upcoming project schedules with Superintendents and Project Managers to forecast equipment needs.
  • Coordinate equipment allocation across competing project demands.
  • Work with project leadership to identify idle or underutilized equipment that can be transferred to other projects.
  • Recommend equipment reassignment or off-rent based on utilization, project schedules, and operational needs.
  • Ensure project teams receive timely communication regarding equipment deliveries, transfers, delays, and availability.
  • Develop processes that improve visibility and communication regarding fleet movement throughout the Infrastructure Department.
Equipment Utilization & Cost Management
  • Monitor equipment utilization across active projects and identify opportunities to increase fleet efficiency.
  • Analyze company-owned versus rented equipment usage to determine the most cost-effective solution.
  • Review rental duration and utilization to identify equipment that should be returned, transferred, or replaced.
  • Develop strategies to reduce unnecessary rental costs, transportation expenses, downtime, and idle equipment.
  • Prepare and review weekly equipment-utilization reports.
  • Monitor fixed and controllable fleet costs and provide recommendations for improving cost performance.
  • Review equipment operating costs, transportation costs, rental expenses, fuel usage, downtime, and maintenance trends.
  • Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and fleet-cost planning.
